Former Republican Speaker of the House and Serial Child Molester, Denny Hastert, Sentenced to 15 Months

Denny Hastert the longest serving Republican Speaker of the House (as Alan would say a Liberal Democrat), was sentenced to 15 months in the clink. Oh, and Tom DeLay wrote a letter to the judge asking him to take it easy on Hastert because he was such a good guy.

Quote

Nothing is worse than using serial child molester and speaker of the house in the same sentence," said the judge, who used his discretion to go well beyond the six-month prison term prosecutors had recommended.

I couldn't believe the people who wrote letters on his behalf. I;d love to know what they were thinking. Some almost made him out to be the victim.
I hoped for a much longer sentence.

I would say no such thing. It would be more like 'perverted shit stain on society'.

One of the articles I read reported the judge said he wanted to give him more time, but didn’t because of his poor health. The prosecution had only asked for six months, so he got more than twice than that.
If Boiler were the judge, he would not have taken into consideration the health of the perpetrator. I certainly don't have all of the facts, and there must be something that I'm missing since the prosecution only asked for six month.

One of the victims was dead and it was a plea bargain. He wasn't charged with child molesting because the statute of limitations had passed, so they got him on financial structuring which has a maximum sentence of five years. It was a win because Hastert had to admit on the record in court he had sexually abused the kids in in order to take the plea.

He wasn't actually prosecuted for his sex crimes. It was for structuring his cash withdrawals to avoid scrutiny of his hush money.

Good for the judge.
Who would you rather have your 10 year old child in the locker room with? Chaz Bono or Dennis Hastert?
