Former site of Frontier hotel to remain vacant.

Interesting read:

Empty Frontier site to remain vacant.
the amount of money mentioned in that article is so gross.
I'm not sure why anyone would expect otherwise. No one is going to build a shack on that lot until things turn around. Even a group wanted to build on that site, who's going to finance the project? Don't expect any different in the near future.

Good Luck!

It sucks for the Riviera. They are making an honest effort to reinvent themselves with better gambling, restaurants, and room improvements. But their neighborhood is a wasteland and it looks like it will stay that way for quite awhile.

After reading the article I'am wondering is Phil Ruffin the smartest operator on the strip or lucky

Mr. Ruffin made out like a bandit in this deal for sure!
A lot of money spent to own a piece of land with just dirt.... Hopefully the Riveria makes it through the tough times it has ahead. It's one of the few places left on the strip with good odds, low minimums, and an "old vegas" feel.

Bottom Line: Mr Ruffin traded the New Frontier for the Treasure Island and pocketed $½-billion. DonDiego votes smartest.

It would not suprise me if Mr. Ruffin bought that property back for a song and built on it. bob

Something we agree on pj! I like the Riv, and the changes made since the ownership change about two years ago have all been very positive. One of the new owners, Derek Stevens, who is also a principle owner of the Golden Gate, knows how to make a casino/hotel gambler friendly.
