fox car rental

Most definitely agree. Avoid them like the plague. We used them once recently and never ever ever again.
Staff was generally ok. Looked somewhat depressed though. Horribly long waits are the norm. Cars are very beat up and not properly maintained.

We got a midsize GM that was fairly new. However, when we went to inspect the car, it was kind of rough inside. Cigarette holes in the upholstry, inside very dirty windows, outside clean though.

We went and drove a short bit, and heard a flopping noise coming from one of the tires. Tire pressure was fine, no apparent punctures. We then noticed the tire's wheel cover was bent somewhat and I figured it must be an alignment issue. Ok, not bad we thought. We then reached about 40 mph before hearing a whirring and thump thump noise. It was late and we were starved. All we wanted to do was to get back to the hotel and get something to eat.

The next day we returned wanting another vehicle but we walked away because the line-up was past the door. We then returned late in the evening where the wait was more reasonable, about 30 minutes. We told the counter rep about the car, that we felt it was unsafe, and it should be taken in for maintenance asap. The rep didnt apologize at all. He gave us instead a year old Honda Civic. It was a very basic Civic and it's A/C was the pits. Glad it wasnt summer.

We drove around with the Civic for a few days but mostly had it for convenience. It sat in the hotel parking light for a couple of days. On our way to the airport back home, we wanted to get a bite to eat before we caught our flight. I went to start the car and it woujldnt start. The battery was dead. We were parked in the Paris parking lo. I called Security and asked for help or suggestions. Security said they're jump starter is not working. We tried to get a cab to jump start our car. We found out quickly cabbies arent allowed to jump start cars. Back home this is very very common. Nobody in the hotel parking garage had jumper cables. Nobody was helpful except for a bunch of college girls, but they had no cables.

Ultimately, the Concierge at the Paris provided us with assistant and called on our behalf a mobile jump starting company. We waited about 30 minutes for the jump. We paid $45.The dude said, look at this battery, pointing to the car battery. It's all corroded, it's a POS, he said.

We made it back just in the nick of time, we gassed up the car across the street from Fox. We figured if it would die, they can haul it back to the lot. Surprisingly, it didnt.

When we presented our receipt to the counter lady at Fox after explaining the entire experience including the previous car rental issues. She went over to the manager, trying to get us the cost of the jump reimbursed. She said the manager said no. I wanted to speak to the manager, but he declined. The manager didnt even have the decency to tell us in person that he wont cover the jump starting their defective vehicle.

Avoid Fox at all cost!
If your rental car has issues, call the rental company first. They will send someone out to fix the car.
