Foxwoods 1st Visit

We visited Foxwoods for the first time.

My thoughts:

It is huge, length and width wise. Probably bigger length and width than the "World's largest casino", Win Star, in Oklahoma. Win star packs in more machines though.

It has too few waitresses. Long time to get served here. The casino shpould free the wait staff from collecting the "dirty glasses" so they can deliver more often and faster.

No "free" water that I could find.

I found Pepsi, plastic bottle, 10 oz>? in a food court for $3.

No "free" drink stations.

There were lots of our old favorites Mystery, Quick Strike, OutbackJack all on the older machines.

The cashiers all closed in the main slot casino "Rainmaker" at 9pm, very poor decision. Had to go a very long walk to the poker room to cash out.

This was a Monday afternoon and night. It was fairly busy. It would be a real zoo on the weekend!!!

The small two lane roads into here must be terribly full on weekends.

My spouse won about $600, I lost $140.

Blackjack was ok and delt from a shoe.

$1 Video Poker was abundent in 9/6.

I won't be back. Las Vegas NV, Shreveport LA, and Chocktaw Durant Oklahoma are much betteer choices.

John,

I live in Connecticut and have been to Foxwoods many times and have seen them make a lot of changes in the last several years, none of which have been for the better. They are struggling financially, have been since the economic downturn in 2008/2009, and their prospects for the future aren't good, especially with three casinos scheduled to open in Massachusetts in the next couple of years. They have been steadily cutting back on staffing and services (as you noticed), reducing gaming space and removing machines and tables. It's too bad that you didn't get to visit them when times were good because it had a much better "vibe" and atmosphere than it does now.

I don't see how they are going to survive when Wynn opens in Boston in a couple of years.
We prefer Mohegan Sun.

As a fyi Foxwoods has a terrific museum
I also prefer Mohegan Sun. Foxwods just feels like a big gambling factory. I have must better luck at Mohegan Sun too

I, too, echo the sentiment in favor of Mohegan Sun.
Mohegan sun over Foxwoods except for the poker room and buffet
