Free agency has gone nuts

Or so it certainly appears. I've seen a few headlines, but haven't read any details til now.

"Quarterbacks will look at Sam Bradford’s lack of NFL success, or Brock Osweiler’s seven career starts, and expect $18 million a year just like those two got with the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans, respectively.." these guys haven't really proven jack, let alone that much dough. Geez at least Flacco got lucky and won a SB before he hit the jackpot.

"Running backs will see Chris Ivory’s one 1,000-yard season (1,070 yards at that), and wonder why they aren’t also making $32.5 million over five years, as Ivory got from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Before free agency this year, only six running backs had deals paying more than $4.1 million per season, and now Ivory is beyond $6 million..." Insane! A single 1000 yd season gets 32.5M!?

..And the hits kept coming..
This will screw with FA for the upcoming years it appears

What is the alternative?

My Giants blew leads in the last two minutes of either eight or nine games last year. They desperately needed defense and they went out and bought themselves some help. They overpaid, but if it gets them into the crapshot the playoffs have become, its worth it.
