You are correct. When I wish to discuss a Vegas topic, I do so on a board that is primarily full of Vegas topics.

Right. Why invest any energy in a forum that has become a toxic wasteland.

Likewise, I converse with Ken Van Vechten (above) in other formats. Same with dozens of other former prominent posters.

And yet, you still hang out here and complain. I don't get it.

Leave and let the rabid fringe chalk up another casualty? No. But I do spend much less time in here.

Jatki, I do find your characterization of me amusing, from someone who complains plenty. I rarely bellyache about anything, online or in person, other than to point out that it is my opinion and the opinion of dozens of former LVA heavyweight contributors that the discourse is running people off. So by and large I don't start threads here because it is something of a vacuum.

There are only so many threads started by AlBeadle/Jatki/Drmilled/Boilerman/Hoops/et al and then countered by the left spin that a person can tolerate. I mostly visit hoping to find enlightenment.

And what Candy said.
I hope the thread I started turns back in to itself. I simply put a challenge out for anybody interested to join me. I am not trying to debate the value of non Vegas threads, I am hoping to stir up more Vegas threads!

Okay let's be serious for a minute. Maybe, just maybe I will have a perfect weekend. The Gators once again have an offensive minded coach. Maybe the Seminoles will lose. Last but not least the Bucs pull off a miracle win against your Lions.

One can only dream.

Liondownnow I really would like to see if it picks up in here if the political BS stopped for a while.

I'm involved with the Rose Bowl College Playoff game. I see two potential upsets this weekend that can send the College Playoffs into a spin. First is Florida State losing to Georgia Tech. Florida State has the tendency to go into the hole and pull itself out. While this is great for confidence, you can only do it so many times before you get burned. Georgia Tech has looked great lately.

The other possible upset is Arizona over Oregon. Arizona beat Oregon at Oregon (are you taking notes Ken 2V?) this year and they beat Oregon last year. The Rose Bowl playoff game is screwed if Oregon is out.

It's kinda ironic that half of the D-1 conferences are told up front every year that they essentially will not be allowed into the playground because of who they play, yet some people are pissed off because FSU is held to somewhat of a similar standard of, "sure, but who you playing and how?" Forget the blowout last week of the SEC East teams; the ACC is not a power five powerhouse this year.

I wish OSU could go in at full strength, 'cause an OSU hammering Wisconsin coupled with another usual FSU "performance" might just have the committee continue to slide FSU right on down. (And I don't even like OSU.) And with this scenario, if the Big 12 could actually crown a champion, adios Heinous Jameis.

Lotta what ifs out there, for sure

I'm nervous about tonight's game. Rich Rod has dialed up two great games. Stanford also had a run against us, which we broke. But when you see it was the two LA dogs that beat the Wildcats this year, you gotta scratch your head, however. (Actually, that's just the Pac being the Pac.)

Obviously I'd like to see my guys get through and for Marcus to wrap up the Heisman. But I'm also happy to see the level of excitement being so high and extending to so many critical final-week games.

I have some very close friends, one is really more like a brother, that absolutely are rabid Noles fans. I bleed orange and blue. I must say it gets interesting sometimes when we watch a game together.

Having said that we all agree those slow starts by the Seminoles are liable to burn them sometime. Especially if they play a team that really pours it on during the first half.

One thing for sure in my book there is nothing like college football. I mean who could forget "Whoa Nellie"

"The last time Brian Griese ran that far, his daddy was chasing him with a stick." - against PSU 97

"You know who the MVP is, well I'll tell you, I'm standing next to his proud poppa." - 98 Rose Bowl

If Friedmush would listen to me, he would always become "more" enlightened.

Ken, I want Arizona to win even though they cost me a breakfast this morning by beating ASU. But I don't see the Wildcats beating a team of Oregon's stature twice in the same year.

I think that is the first time in my life that somebody thought beating the Lions would be a miracle.

Bastard!

I don't bet sports. I'm not wired that way. OK, wagers with mates and all, but not like walking in to a casino and putting a grand down. I can't separate the emotion, so I don't sports-wager. Tonight, I do think there are different critters out there now. Our play against WSU in a win shoulda been more eye-opening than the loss to UA. We had a rough patch there in the middle. I think we're a different unit now.

But I can't separate the emotion.

Homer's work with the committee is cool stuff, and he knows the big picture. The Pac is bettered with an Oregon win, Arizona obviously is bettered if it wins. A two-loss Wildcats team with two wins against a #2 ranked Oregon each time spells the best two-loss team in the country, I'd surmise. But I just don't see enough dominoes that even could fall to make that kind of jump possible.

And you're a bastard, btw!!
