Free Speech Dies at Berkeley

I concede ecomstoc, jatki99, Boilerman, chefantwon and DonDiego know the ins and outs of “Dangerous Faggots” in a way I never will.

And if the leftists do not permit him to speak, malibber2 will remain uninformed on the matter.

Isn't entertaining to listen to all the people who voted for the "take 'em out on a stretcher" guy be upset about assaults on the first ammendment?

Our new president - the most powerful office in the world - has officially threatened to fire people who use his own State Departments dissent channel - a medium that was specificially designed to give a voice to those inside the department that disagree with the sitting administration on an issue. His official spokesperson's response "they should either get with the program or they can go."
Trump threatens free speech in his own departments

...but nevermind that....the president of the UNited states imposing free speech restrictions.....who cares? Those Berkley kids. Yeah - them. Thats the big threat.
I wish I could read PJ's link, but I refuse to remove my ad blocker. I will trust his summary in good faith though.

If his point is that we should be concerned with threats to free speech from President Trump AND the Berkeley rioters, then I agree.
If his point is that we should be concerned with threats to free speech from President Trump BUT NOT the Berkeley rioters, then I disagree.

Lets go with #1. But lets also be honest - Its a false equivalency to compare the power of college students at one university to that of the President of the UNited States, isn't it? And if we are going to single out one incident where "free speech died" as was the topic of this thread.....I think I might point to the one that carries more weight.

Upon further review, that sounds more like #2.

Ahh, . . . . Good News !

Even as Freedom of Speech dies on many campuses within the United States, Freedom of the Press still persists elsewhere in the country.

Mr. Yiannopoulos' latest book has risen to #3 on the Amazon sales listing.
Ref: Amazon
[n.b.The referenced page changes as sales change; as DonDiego posts the subject book is #3]

Oh my god! Freedom of the Press has died now. Don Diego's panties must really be twisting in knots.

Milo Yiannopoulos' book Dangerous was canceled abruptly Monday after Republican conservatives released clips of videos-with-audio in which he seemed to condone sex between men and boys.

In a terse statement released Monday afternoon, the right-wing provocateur's publisher said: "After careful consideration, Simon & Schuster and its Threshold Editions imprint have canceled publication of Dangerous by Milo Yiannopoulos.

Oh goodness !

malliber2 takes an unhealthy interest in DonDiego's undergarments. Nonetheless, because DonDiego does not purchase cheap underwear, it seldom bunches, droops, or twists. In addition DonDiego's unique body shape insures his underclothing is sufficiently filled so as to not allow twisting.

Besides, on the matter at hand DonDiego perceives a significant difference between i. thugs rioting on campus to prevent an invited speaker from speaking, the original topic of this post, and ii. a publisher declining to publish an author's works.
The first is an example of denial of free speech; no one should be coerced into silence by riotous mobs.
The second is a business decision; a publisher cannot be forced to publish a book.
I see this fellow has been "dis-invited" from CPAC, a conservative meeting. Gee whiz fellows, after all your missives on free speech I'm flabbergasted by this change of heart. I'm going to break out my pictures of Winston Churchill and inspiring quotes about free speech. I am however, excited to see that Donald Trump will be speaking during the familes values portion of the CPAC meeting.
