Free Summer Concerts on Fremont

Almost all concerts have been announced, the first one being KC and the Sunshine Band this weekend. I've been to several of them, and they have been a lot of fun. Standing room only, so they're lousy for bringing kids who can't see over the crowd. I'm going to try to get there for Kansas.

May 23
KC and The Sunshine Band

May 30
Tonic & Vertical Horizon

June 13
The Smithereens, The Tubes & The Motels w/Martha Davis

June 27
Smash Mouth & Toad the Wet Sprocket

July 10
Edited to add: Dropkick Murphys

July 18
Theory of a Deadman

Aug. 1
Spin Doctors & Cherry Poppin’ Daddies

Sept. 6
Kansas & Blue Oyster Cult
Do they just perform in the pavilions next to the D? Or do they create a larger space?

No larger space. The shows are either on the 3rd Street Stage next to the D, or on the 1st Street Stage between Binion's and Mermaids.

Good stuff. I looked up to see if TBA was To Be Announced or the TBA Band (yes, there is a band named that). It looks like they have a big name band lined up but don't want to announce it too soon. The only slight problem with this is that it looks like wall to wall bodies during these concerts.

--roulette man, I have pics on my cell phone, similar to the one u posted. they are from the deep purple concert last summer I believe. man I would love to see the motels/Martha Davis. I will b back in vegas aug 12-16.

Color me odd, but live crowded concerts have never held much appeal for me. That shot right there absolutely makes me want to kick nack in my own home and listen to a CD. Same with live sporting events, kinda cool to go to but watching at home is much more comfortable.

I'm with Jjatki99. I would prefer to watch a great undiscovered regional band vs Kansas.

Here's a coincidence. That photo could have been taken at the Loverboy concert a couple three years back. And one of the guys that joined us that night was the leader of a great undiscovered (and still undiscovered) regional band that we followed and became friends with.

See, you can do both!
I wonder how Kansas is doing without Steve Walsh. Buck Dharma on guitar for Blue Oyster Cult is reason enough to watch them especially if their set includes Then Came the Last Days of May where he has brilliant solo in the middle of it.
