Free Wifi all downtown this summer

According to this link all of downtown Las Vegas will have free Wifi early this summer. Yippee-Kaiyeah!

Downtown free Wifi this summer
Do any downtown hotels (like the Golden Nugget) charge resort fees, and claim that part of the fee is for wifi?
Extremely happy to hear this.
Don't know how accurate this map is, but according to this I should be able to access free WIFI while staying at MSS in a few days. Which is odd, considering they eliminated the free WIFI in their Player's Club lobby and have started charging for it in the rooms. (I am very confused...lol)

6 days till VEGAS!!!!
Good news. I'm also 6 days away and not staying downtown but it's great for those who do.

According to the article, "active by early summer" kind of puts a damper on it for those visiting before than.

True, but posts on other threads here and on other Vegas sites indicate that it is up and running now. Saw a poster somewhere say they got reception from El Cortez to MSS, although they only had two bars at MSS. Plan on testing ourselves in early May.
stayed @ the Cabana Suites for the NCAA Tournament 2 weeks ago and they had free wifi at that time.
I will be curious to see if the strip gets free wi-fi. If so, I wonder just how many visitors will be willing to pay the rip off "resort" fees that get you nothing more than exercise room access and a couple bottles of water. I am sure that the strip properties will try to keep the free wi-fi from being allowed in the area of the strip.
Having got tired of being ripped off, a couple of trips ago I went to Wallmart in Bullhead City and bought an internet stick for $35.00. Cards with 2G are $20.00, and last 5 years prior to activation, and 1 month after activation. Now I bring my own internet - I can use it anywhere, anytime. But downtown and free is an even better deal if I will be downtown the whole trip. I don't imagine that we will see "Free" on the strip anytime soon - it's too large a cash cow.

Plaza is the only one that comes to mind.
