free wifi

Has anyone tried the free wifi at downtown Las Vegas? Are the speeds acceptable? Does the wifi make you have to jump thru hoops such as having to provide your email, or throwing ads in your browser, or having to watch commercials and the like before getting to the "free" wifi? The free wifi supposedly covers a 1 mile radius from the Fremont St Experience. At the California recently I couldn't get the signal. At the Downtown Grand I saw the signal (I think it is called LV net free wifi) but Downtown Grand has its own free wifi so I used it instead which was quite good and fast.


I tried the free wifi at McCarran in the past and the numerous ads that kept popping up before getting to the free wifi made it so annoying that I disconnected.

I'm here at Fremont street as I post this, on the free Wifi. Speeds seem slightly slower than LTE cellular connection and it's dead here. I can't imagine how slow it would be with a big crowd.

You have to watch a commercial to hook up, I was ignoring it as it loaded and played so I missed it if there was a way to "opt out".

Awesome. BTW becareful of the hookers, don't let them pick your pockets (lol).

For downtown, free wi-fi does really suck.

I tried the free wifi downtown last night. The signal seemed to be strong and steady anywhere on Fremont. However, after signing on, with no commercial to watch, I would get sent back to the sign on page at the first click on whatever site I was on. I gave up trying to figure out the problem after a couple of tries. could have just been a glitch. I'll try again today. Maybe, if I can get away from the craps tables.
