We had Pat Hill as a speaker several years ago, the day before Fresno St. played USC and almost beat them. Pat Hill is a dynamic speaker. UCLA has an open coaching position. How Fresno St. could ever fire this guy is beyond belief. He is the sole reason why they got any credit or publicity.
R-Man, u are right! i've met and spoken to Coach Hill around Fresno many times. We eat at the same Mexican eatery and he is a great guy. After that great game when Fresno ALMOST beat USC they lost the next 2 to RENO AND LA TECH. it was breakdowns like that and not ever winning the WAC outright. we could never beat BOISE and attendance for games is down. they say DENNIS ERICKSON wants the job, we'll see.
Firing Pat Hill and hiring Erickson to me is NOT a step UP.

he seemed to be able to play the "best teams" very well and play down to the level of lesser opponents.

Lots of pressure to win and go to bowl games nowdays! sad firing

When Pat Hill came to speak, he gave his usual any team, any where, any time speech. He is an incredibly motivational speaker. He talked about his goal was to move Fresno St. into the next level, kind of like what happened to West Virginia.

I at one time thought that Fresno St. might have been a candidate to join the Pac 10 (now Pac 12) conference.

UCLA has never had a bigger opening to sign a top coach. They need to talk to him immediately.
he could also move to Hawaii. Hill has expressed an interest in Hawaii and is rumored to be on the list since Hawaii's coach "retired" yesterday (meaning if he didn't resign or retire he probably would have been fired).

That's too bad, Mac (the coach who retired) was a nice guy and one of his strong points was that he stressed education, they were one of the top teams that had a high graduation rate among fball players. It's too bad, lots of injuries didn't help but the problem was that they lost a few games that they should have won, Hawaii's schedule was so soft this year they should have easily won 8 or 9 games (13 game schedule) which led to the coach's undoing.
