from the WTF! dept...

Las Vegas company wants to open casino, retail near Indianapolis airport..... view the short video at: Americanplace.us

perhaps a medium sized casino with a hotel and a few eateries would work. but the rest of that?? really???

it is a blighted area since the old airport sort of picked up and moved a little to the west. there are already several hotels in the area that were built before the airport "moved". and they never look to be full except for maybe around the indy 500 weekend.

do they really think someone in another state is gonna be sittin around and say hey honey lets go to that casino thingy in Indianapolis?

I hope that it doesn't happen.

No - but the Indianapolis metropolitan area is 1 million people who currently have their gambling options limited to Racino-slot-parlors or a 2 hour drive to the state border casinos.

The old airport is a behemoth complex with parking garages and everything a casino would need...and its available for pennies on the dollar. Our governor is dead set against it. I have mixed feelings. I suspect if you built the airport casino you would likely put the final nail in the coffin of the Lawrenceberg casinos.

I'd be happy if they simply allowed table games at the Racinos in the suburbs.
It might not happen here in Indy now, but "City Casinos" are coming. I was recently in Atlanta, and the mayor is considering the plans for a Billion dollar casino complex on the Turner Field site when they build their new baseball stadium in 2 years.

That reminds me, hows the gambling at the Lawrence casinos since the advent of the new ones?

A society in which an ever-increasing population of citizens wantonly pursue the diversions of sports, gambling, and lascivious music and entertainments will eventually collapse. Witness Rome ca 400 AD.

Nonetheless it truly is fun while it lasts. Go Eagles !
