Full house with 3 Aces

We all know about the "proper strategy" differences when dealt a full house with three aces.

In double double bonus and triple double bonus and some other games we hold only the 3 aces. Yes, Ive sacrificed full houses to try fo the fourth ace and kicker in these games.

In 8/5 Bonus we hold the full house.

Our friend Rob Singer even says to hold the full house in 8/5 Bonus, but in 7/5 Bonus he says to just hold the three aces. (See example #14 of his special plays here .)

Well, last night I was playing 8/5 Bonus and I was dealt a full house with 3 aces. Proper strategy is to hold the full house.

But I was in the hole by $1500 and I was down to my last $200 of play for the night. I was dealt AAA77 and said to myself a full house with 40 coins ($5/coin game) won't do me much good, I have to go for it. I did and got the Ace for a $2000 win. That was my first of three quad aces last night. The others were simple plays, held two aces (no other pair) or held 3 aces (no full house).

Yes, I played it wrong -- I broke up the full house -- but I certainly don't regret this play.
Sometimes you can do everything right and get bad results.
Other times you can make the wrong decision and it turns out right.
If you play your hands based on anything but the right strategy, in the long run it will hurt you more than help you.
As you shouldn't...sometimes you just go for it! Congrats on your win.
Yep, sometimes you feel like a nut and sometimes you don't.

And the point of this thread is ?????

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile? A stopped clock is right twice a day?

BTW, it wouldn't have cost you 40 coins if you failed. Since you kept 3oak you were giving up a max of 25 coins.
Arc, exactly right. I was only losing 125 dollars. Given that option, I wonder why we dont go for the quad aces every time we have three aces in a full house??

Slapinfunk always goes for the quads and says when he misses there is always the option of getting another full house. and the hand is never a total loss.
Like Singer says, when he's stuck a bunch and needs a "helpful" hand, he goes for the 4th Ace. Look what happened to you. You were stuck $1500 and made that into a $500 win plus whatever you had in the machine. Hope you quit at that point.
For the record- anytime I am dealt 3 aces I discard the other two cards, period. So sue me.
On my quarter 7/5 Bonus with progressives on RF, SF, and all 4Ks I start breaking FHs for 3As when the Ace jackpot reaches about $115 ($460 for you dollar players).

Believe in 6/5 Bonus you break FHs for 3As even without a progressive.

At one time I knew what the break point was for 8/5 Bonus, but can't recall now. Possibly in the $140s or $150s?

However, this is all calculated by averaging the payoffs from every possible outcome. Playing hunches isn't bound by such rules.

Because you prefer to win money?

Sure, you will hit the 4th ace once out of every 23.5 attempts. You will also hit the FH about every 16 hands. But, the programs don't lie, you would lose an average of 7 coins ($35) on every try. You can even figure this out for yourself.

I wonder what you'd be saying on this thread if you failed. You are currently frustrated at not hitting 4RF. The same type of streak could happen here. I went over 4 cycles on the 4RF twice. Here that would mean close to 100 tries without hitting once. Just something to keep in mind.
