Yes, there is.
Several MGM casinos offer it in the morning and late night hours. Is it as good as the El Cortez? No, but for a $5 player, you'd need to camp out for days to make up the difference in EV. Wild Wild West, a medium walk west of NYNY sometimes has a pretty good DD game, but it hours vary.

Those lousy 5 deck Hit 17 games have literally TRIPLE the house edge as the El Cortez. Also, WWW is NOT on the Strip!
Best bet is to take the Deuce to LV and Fremont and get out just about at the entrance to El Cortez. The $5 BJ on the Strip is simply dreadful.

Both games are negative games. Assuming a fairly full table, you'll get in about 50 hands an hour.
Lets assume you stay on the strip and can walk to a game in five minutes. You spend five hours playing so you play 250 hands at $5 a hand. Thats $1250 played, at an expected loss of 1.0% of about$12.50 .
Compare the same five hours but you take a bus downtown- so you get in three hours at the EC. Thats 150 hands ,so it's $750 at a projected loss of about $3.75 plus busfare. If you are solo, you are slightly ahead, if you are a couple, you are about even, and you spent two hours of your time on a bus. Not the best use of your time, in my opinion. Not to mention that there are only one or two $5 SD tables there and they might be full when you get there.

good freakin grief. Not everyone wants to take a bus and go downtown. The original question was pretty specific. Does anyone have an answer to the question that was asked?
The answer is: "NO."

But the Las vegas Blackjack Survey at the Wizard of Vegas will permit songbird to search by fr'instance Casino, Location, House Edge, and Minimum Bet to find the next best thing.
Strip be damned. Take a taxi to the El Cortez and have fun at the single deck BJ table.

I don't blame you. I went downtown one time last year when I went to Vegas on my second trip. What a dump. Walking around there at night requires a firearm with good stopping power.

I've spent 20 years going there with zero firepower and never had, or saw, a problem. That includes
late night. You must stay on Fremont St. late night though, that's for sure.

According to the Wizard's rule survey (and I think it is correct) there is not a single $5 3-2 BJ game on the Strip. So the answer is NO. Which is why I suggested he go to the El Cortez he can get the bus for right outside any Strip casino.
Bellagio had a $5 3/2 game running during the week last week. I think it was only one table, but I believe it runs regularly during the week.

The thread title and the original question are conflicting. Encore to MB isn't "the strip" as a whole. The Riviera had $5 3-2 BJ when I was there at the end of March.

If his survey doesn't show any $5 tables, then it is either incorrect or not up to date. I've seen $5 tables before noon at several MGM casinos in the last few weeks.

"before noon" being an an obvious qualifier. I assume it is that horrid 6 deck Hit 17?
The original poster should NOT expect to find $5 3-2 BJ at anywhere on the Strip at the times he is likely to be playing.

Not likely, if there is it is lousy 6 deck Hit 17. To hell with the Strip. Go to El Cortez-full pay single deck. Just bring one of those fancy Wynn drink cups and you will think it is the Strip!

I am in agreement with melbedewy on this one. Downtown is the way to go if you are a blackjack player, as I am. I don't know about the fancy Wynn drink cups, though.....I like the fact that I KNOW I am downtown.
