getting married and Downtown

Going to Vegas in April and we are going to get hitched in our favorite place!! My question to everyone is that when we get into town we need to go to the courthouse to get the mariage license I thought of walking to Fremont street from there...it will be around 9pm. Is this safe? Havent been downtown in years and everytime my fiance and I go we never get the chance and hes never been. I would realy like to go but safety first ya know. Thanks. Renee
teechur and DonDiego married atop the Stratosphere in 2007.

They got their license several months before the ceremony at the office at 201 Clark Avenue. It was dark, and the street was not inviting. However, in the immediate vicinity of the license bureau were about half-a-dozen limousines and drivers offering transportation to their Wedding Chapel quite vociferously.

Perhaps if Renee24 checked with her selected chapel transportation could be arranged at a reasonable cost.
When I got married in Vegas, we booked a package deal from the Little White Wedding Chapel. A limo picked us up from our hotel, drove us to get our license, whisked us to the chapel and deposited the newly wed at the location of our choice. I would not walk around the area of the courthouse at night.
Hmmm....It's a couple of long blocks to Fremont from the Courthouse. If I were with my guy, I probably would (with my pepper spray ready). However, being the courthouse, there may be taxis available and you could get one for the few blocks just for a better feeling security.

btw....CONGRATS!

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I think we will spare the extra cash for a cab to and from the courthouse. The wedding package we are getting has a limo round trip offered but we have to get the liscence ahead of time.

If DonDiego were to accompany teechur, he'd be sure to allow her to walk nearer to the curb, since she has the pepper spray.

Another alternative: instead of walking north 4 blocks to Fremont, a couple could sprint 2 blocks east to Las Vegas Boulevard and take their chances walking to Fremont. Wear comfortable shoes which don't make any clattering sounds on the pavement; thats guaranteed to attract thugs and ne'er-do-wells.
