Getting a new Fridge/Freezer...ideas?

I prefer a bottom freezer=less stooping. More efficient also.
Side by sides are not that great. Open the door and it freezes my toes.
Kenmore units are fine. I bought an LG clothes washer and it's fine.Top loader.
The dryer is a Kenmore.So is my refer(Top freezer) Cheaper,for some reason.18 cu. '
Keeps my beer cold.
Yes,the #1 trouble is with the ice makers. ALL brands. Needs a larger filter.
Warning ******* former appliance salesman making a recommendation *******warning

Just 3 things to look for

1. Uprights have less problems than side by sides
2. Ice makers can be problematic
3. When in doubt, go Whirlpool

Check Consumer Reports, generally the top 3 brands will give you less heartache than the others.

I call that EXPERT advice!

Don't forget Maytag.
I know you don't want GE, but over ten years ago GE was advertising a refrigerator that had a compartment that could quick chill wine, and another compartment that would defrost meat over a period of time designated by the user. I thought both features were great.

I've got a lot of Samsung products in my home, but I don't think I need the refrigerator shown above. It supposedly has interior cameras that you can access with your smart phone, so that you can see whether you have something.

None of the regular refrigerators out there seem to be able to produce crystal clear ice cubes.

Most of the tubing that runs to the fridge from the sink IS plastic.

That pesky tap water can be suspect depending upon where you live.

I suspect that even if you put bottled water in an ice cube tray they will probably become cloudy and I believe that's because it's expanding, and cracking as it freezes. The clear ice you get at a bar or restaurant is made differently with a continuous stream of water that kind of "coats" the ice one thin layer at a time.
Hey Chef Antwon,My current fridge is a Ge Artica side by side. I currently have both the quick chill feature plus the quick defrost. These 2 have been my favorite and most used features , both work great. the quick chill does a super job and the quick defrost work flawlessly. These 2 features I will miss and are the only factor in my dragging on getting a new unit. I have broken shelves in both compartments a leaking water line to the ice water which I am sure that I could fix and a general lack of proper storage in both the fridge and freezer. I am thinking of going LG . I just want to find the one that will meet my needs. I will find the Best Price and do my best to give RC Wiley my business as they have earned it. I bought a LG washer recently and within in a couple of weeks the print on the buttons came off. LG would do nothing and said it was cosmetic only which was true otherwise the unit works perfectly. I called RC and sent a couple of photos....End of story the next day they took the unit I purchased and delivered a new unit. I got a sale price and the sales person insisted I get their 5 year plan for $129. they matched the free delivery of best by so the extra protection was $65. I will go the same way with the new fridge. Thanks for your help.......I will also look at whirlpool I hear they are good as well.
