Getting a room for the New Years holiday? Anyone been to Vegas for New Years?

I was thinking of spontaneously going to Vegas for this New Years Eve. Just out of curiosity, I started looking at room prices. WOW!!!! Either everything is booked, or is expensive!! Even the dumpy places are expensive (not that I would stay at one)!!

I've been going for about 8 yrs..Always book it in June or July...It's a great time..Hope you can find a room, did u try downtown and some of the local places??
