Go Cubs!

Here we go...

Much better.
Utley's move was a cheap shot that cost the Mets the game and they lost their shortstop for the rest of the playoffs. Utley got off cheap with a 2 game suspension.

With the addition of reply, baseball has eliminated the neighborhood play & phantom tags which were allowed to minimize injury. That discretion needs to be brought back.

Yippee.

It's a small world.

I too grew up NW of downtown Chicago . . . Des Plaines. Met my current spouse riding the commuter train into Chicago.

LIFELONG CUBS FANS!! In fact, we are the proud owners of a 1969 era baseball autographed by many of the former greats on the Cubs . . . . Ernie Banks, Fergie Jenkins, Randy Hundley, Billy Williams, and so on. My friend was a patient in a Chicago hospital at the same time as Randy Hundley, who was undergoing knee surgery. Lucky him, he got the players' signatures while there. Lucky for me, he is a SouthSider and didn't want the ball. LOL.

Cubs are going all the way to the World Series. No more, "wait till next year."

BTW, we now live in Kansas City. Go Royals!
Did you go to East or West? I have a bunch of buddies that went to Maine West. I'm not sure how far back you're going, but my friends from West graduated in the class of 1975 and the class of 1978. Three of the boys from '78 go with me to Vegas every Labor Day. Year 34 comes up next year.

I recall being at a cross country meet at Maine East "back in the day", and watching Bart Conners working out on the pommel horse. He was a stud.

You mentioned Randy Hundley. He was neighbors with a buddy of mine in Palatine, IL., and I've I played catch with him a couple of times about a hundred years ago. His son Todd and I played for the same high school coach, although he was about ten years younger than me.

I "had" autographs from a couple of the same era guys from Glenn Beckert and Don Kessinger. I don't a clue where there at now.

Wow. My spouse graduated from Maine West in 1975. (uh, yeah, we are that old). I graduated from Elk Grove HS in 1975. Spouse's sister graduated from Maine West in 1978.

Well, small world, as I said.

And, we both remember Bart Conner, as my spouse dated a gymnast at Maine West. (we didn't meet until 1979, after college graduation)

Well, well, maybe the Royals will meet the Cubs in the World Series!

You're an evil Elk Grove Grenadier? I'm a Fremd Viking Alumnus. I ran cross country, indoor track, and played baseball against you guys through high school. I recall running CC at Busse Woods, and their was a dead guy on the course during warm ups. That's my nice thought of the day.

Have a good one, Durham.

Once again the Dodgers underachieved. Classy dodger fans (fresh off putting another visiting team fan in the hospital) gave utley a standing ovation.

Fremd!! Ah well, it's okay.

However, I am surprised by what you found in Busse Woods. Come on, just a dead guy? Oh, the stories I could tell about what went on there. The Elk Grove police knew just where to be.
Time to make amends for 1969. Hey anything's possible. Would just be nice if a winter coat weren't needed to watch the World Series.

Tim
I have a buddy who has Cubs season tickets. He was at both games in Chicago this week, and attend games 3, 4, and 5 (if needed) in Chicago next week. He booked hotels in both Kansas City and Toronto and will attend all home and away games, assuming the Cubs advance.

I wish that I could join him, but I'll be watching on TV instead.
