Going to GVR @ end of month but want a side trip suggestion

Hey Guys!

We've been looking at Aliente and M as a side trip. Both seem to have decent paytable schedules on DDB and BP and "I" want to get out of GVR for a while one day. My husband is perfectly content to stay there but I get cabin fever. I also want to go somewhere with decent vp. Which would you recommend? I'd entertain anyone's suggestion at this point. Love, love, love GVR, but ya gotta break it up when you're gonna be there 4 days! It's our 38th anniversery and we've stayed there exclusively for about 6 years now. Thanks for any suggestions you might offer up! We did NOT like Red Rock, so let's leave that out.
M-Resort is probably my favorite casino in Vegas now with good food, games, and promotions. They give stuff away there like crazy.

Sunset Station isn't far away and you can use your same Stations card to play and redeem points. Its probably a small step down in quality from GVR with a slightly livelier crowd.

M is about 15 minutes away from GVR - and has an awesome buffet as well.

Aliante is 45-60 minutes away, and has a nice locals vibe to it.
Unless you love driving through las Vegas traffic I'd suggest staying on the south side. The choices are then Sunset Station and Fiesta Henderson to the east and M, Southpoint and Silverton to the west. All of these had some decent VP last time I checked although I heard the Silverton has gone downhill.

Do you have a car? M is just a short drive down St. Rose Pkwy (take Paseo Verde east out of the GVR garage) and is well worth the visit, especially if you like good buffets. They also have a cute and yummy cupcake and pastry shop. You don't have to take the strip or highway to get there from GVR. Dollar VP is a little better than .25, but the dealers there are the best in town. Within ten minutes of M is Southpoint and Silverton, which makes for an easy "tour" if you don't like one of the choices. All have easy access and close in parking.

Sunset Station is easy to get to (take 215 to 515 to Sunset) and has good VP, but I don't like the food selections there as much. Their table "pit" is pretty, though, with an intricate stained glass ceiling. Red Rock is about 25 minutes away (depending on traffic - just take 215 past the strip and then around to Charleston) has good VP and a pretty active vibe and all you have to do is get on the highway. Aliante is a bit further out on (215N at Aliante Pkwy), but we have had great luck on their FPDW and we like their staff. All of these are Station casinos, so you can use/rack up points on your boarding pass.

How about getting away from casinos for a pretty drive? Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire are both within an hour and make for great pictures and a breath of sun and air (good for an afternoon if you're usually inside for all four days).
Thanks everyone for all that advice! I am going to print all this out and take it with me. No, we won't have a car, but our limo guy is a pretty good friend now, and he will take us anywhere we want to go. I just don't want to inconvience him by making him take us all over the place. We googled the M and Aliente yesterday and both properties look really nice. Guess we'll go over to the M since it's so close! Had no idea Aliente was so far away! Wow. Looking forward to this trip and looking forward to posting a royal on the board. We have a wall of pictures of all of our royals on our mantle. Wish we would have known about the royals board then as we could have been "somebody" amongst all of you. Thanks again!
