Thanks for the comments. I am interested in going in looking at jewlery maybe,if someone has a gambling problem the money from a pawn shop would look good.

if you are interested in looking at jewelry, there are probably many pawn shops in and around Vegas that you don't have to stand in line to get into. This one probably marks their stuff up more because they are on TV, too

Slander much Karen?

Bigger Question Karen is...

How much for the fried twinkes and oreos downtown Karen? Can I get like 15 for 10 like you do?
I bumped into the Dad when I was at the valet at the Silverton. Apparently they live close by and stop at the Silverton many times a week. Looked like they pulled an all nighter from the looks of Dad. The valet pulled up a brand new black Bentley. Must have signed a new contract for Pawn Stars!

There is one across the street from the Stratosphere. Had some really nice stuff in there but I think it was overpriced. I would rather go to the Outlet mall than buy from the pawnshops there.

Pretty sure all prices are negotiable in a pawn shop. Make an offer see what happens. I agree that gold and silver will definitely be retail, doubt any bargains there.

HUH?

Even if there is a price tag attached, EVERYTHING is negotiable... even at Tiffany & Co and Macy's, and certainly in a pawn shop.

But I agree that the Gold and Silver Shop might have a "premium" on their merchandise because of their cachet and "TV stardom." About ten years ago I stopped into a small pawnshop on the Strip near MGM just to look at what they had (was with wife #2 then). Saw nothing of interest and frankly there were no "deals" there. But I wonder now, with the economy in rough shape.

Also pawn shops in the "communities" of Vegas might be better places to "shop" because they aren't counting on the "tourists" to stop in.
Earlier this season there was an item purchased on the show for $2500 that I believed was worth at least $15,000. The day after the show aired, I called the shop and they still had it and were asking $4800 for it. I asked what kind of warranty they would offer as far as authenicity went and the guy on the phone said he'd have someone get back to me. No one did and when I called the next day, I was told the item had been sold.
The shop seems more interested in selling show merchandise than their inventory.
In the world of collectibles "provenance" means a lot. There are people who will "pay" because it was "on TV."

The public is more interested in buying show merchandise than their inventor.
Snidely is right.

When we went there, the crowd control person, basically told everyone that souveniors from the TV show, were located in the back. People were looking in the glass cases up front, with stuff vastly overpriced - but people in back were BUYING the t-shirts, cups, plates, etc from the TV show.
