Gold Spike Closing

Just read on Vegas Chatter that The Gold Spike is closing. Only played there once. Shortly after the remodel. It was clean but not a whole lot more going for it. Oh well, another one bites the dust.
Surprised this didnt happen 10 year ago, Whenever Istuck my head in the door it was a ghost town.
They ought to put a time lapse camera on the property to see how fast it deteriorates after closing.

Which it won't, because that's not how Tony Hsieh operates.

Hell, the dude lives literally right across the street.

Lousy gambling, not surprised.
Do they still have the infamous "No Doo-Rags or Bandanas" sign?
I was rooting for the Gold Spike but I'm not surprised to here of its closing.

I went a few months after its remodel and had an ok time. The little diner was delightful for breakfast but the casino was not worthwhile - bad VP by downtown standards and tighter slots. I think I still managed to win a little bit - like $20 or something.

I never stayed in the hotel but most reports were not impressive: clean and new...but very modest and basic furnishings with uncomfortable beds.
Finally the last nail in that coffin.
