Gold Tower or Carson Tower?

Is there any difference between the two? Looking for a good place with double beds downtown, but I don't want Freemont Street to keep me up if I have to end my night early.
I always stay in the Carson Tower but then again......im cheap. I think the only difference is the length of the walk from Fremont St. back to the room.
Stayed in the Carson Tower on our last trip in February. Was on the 10th floor. Never heard a sound from the FSE. Agree that the walk is farther, but the quiet was much appreciated. Have never stayed in the Gold Tower, so I don't know if the sound from FSE is different or not.
Gold Tower is our choice every trip. Easy walk to elevators whatever time it is. Never been bothered by any noise. Maybe we have been lucky all these years 20+. Sorry maybe a few people that were drunk screaming for a minute or two. Gold Tower used to be called North Tower and Carson Street Tower now was called South Tower.

Is the Rush Tower out of the equation?
I preter the Cabana Suites at the El Cortez, but my brother wants a place with double beds. I love downtown so GN seems to be the next best choice.
Stayed in both same rooms no noise in either tower.
Stayed in both these places within the last year. The gold tower from what I can remember had a nice view of the pool. the Carson tower had a view of a parking area and mechanical equipment. However, there was a break in one of the rooms in the gold tower and the cops and security were there for while. I didnt want my wife to see or she would be talking cr@p the rest of the trip. the carson tower on the other hand was nice and quiet. Anyway both rooms are about the same. If u dont stay in the room long and dont care about the view stay in the carson tower.
.
Yeah, but they don't match up to tne quality of the Cabana Suites.
