One of the big problems with many of these downtown casinos is that they sit on several different properties and the casino doesn't own the land. Its hard enough dealing with one landlord, imagine having to deal with a half dozen or more. That was the driving reason why first Harrahs and then Mountaineer dumped Binions. The 4Queens could deal better because most of the folks who own land under Binions already owned land under the 4Q so they had a working relationship.
Hopefully, its a small step in the right direction.

Fitz is one of the looser casinos downtown. Golden Gate isn't. I hope Fitz stays that way.

I usually do well at GG and I stayed at the Fitz last visit. So perhaps this will be a good thing for me.

I just finished reading the article on the"Fitz" changing ownership. I'm a big fan of Downtown and love to see any improvements that take place there. Does anyone know if anything is happening yet at "Lady Luck". I see a news item every few months but I never see any progress. I know the QOD gets questioned periodically regarding it's status. Back in the day, Nightline used to open their broadcasts with the headline that it was day whatever in the Iran hostage crisis. Maybe the LVA could post something like that for Lady Luck. Today is Oct. 3, 2011. Day (fill in the blank) and there is still nothing to report on the Lady Luck Hotel and Casino.

Golden Gate has some really cool little rooms - I suspect the rooms at Fitz are ready for a facelift.

Don Barden was a good guy but he got into bad money trouble towards the end.
