Golden Gate info

We were having a tough time finishing up hotel rooms for our September trip as we'll be in Vegas during the iHeart Music Festival and Barrett-Jackson. We still needed a room for Saturday, the 21st and the prices were crazy. Lo and behold we got a mailer from the Golden Gate offering any 3 nights in September. Since we only needed the Saturday I called and it was available. We booked it for just the one night. We have played many times at the GG but have never stayed there. We're looking for any info/suggestions about the rooms there. Thanks for the help in advance.
How many in your party? The GG rooms are nice, but very small. Remember that the hotel is over 100 years old. The rooms will either feature a queen bed, or two twins. The shower is a tight squeeze too. I've stayed at GG twice and enjoyed it both times. All the rooms have flat screens, Ipod dock radios, nice stuff in the bathroom, and the beds are comfy.
For one night its fine. Rooms are tiny, bathrooms are really tiny, but everything is clean. Lots of noise from Fremont St Experience until midnight so don't plan on going to bed before then. Consider a vintage room at El Cortez for a quieter experience at about the same price
PJ suggested the El Cortez for the same price, but as the offer is for the GG, here are my comments.
Stayed there 2 weeks ago on a Fri and Sat night, first room on 3rd floor facing the Plaza was hot and the room
wouldn't cool down under 80, very tiny bathroom, then they moved me to a newly remodeled Jr. Suite with a very large bathroom and huge walk in shower Room 202, No noise problems here as this room also faced west
towards the Plaza. I have stayed 2 times before there in rooms facing the Fremont St. Experience and it was loud, but you can't beat the price, when you get a free offer, enjoy your stay. Oh and by the way, I requested a Fremont view during one stay because it was over New Years Eve.

I stayed there for 5 days over Memorial Day.

The older rooms are very tiny, but I had no problem.

My room was on the 4th floor facing inside toward what the check-in girl said was the courtyard. The courtyard was broken down wooden stairs that went down to the 3rd floor, but it was fairly quiet.

I've stayed at the Gate 3 times in the past 7 months. Indeed, the rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. Flat screen TV, in-room safe, very comfortable beds & coffee maker($2.00 charge for the coffee). Bathroom--very small; if you want two people in the bathroom at the same time, one of you will have to stand in the shower/tub. Adjusting the water temp in the shower can be a little tricky...takes some practice. DO NOT get a room up front facing FSE....the bands on the weekends will play LOUD until at least 2 AM...you will not be able to sleep. Avoid the rooms on the east side of the hotel facing the alley. They empty the dumpsters in the alley around 4-6 AM..they will wake you up. I try and get a room facing Main St towards the rear of the hotel. The noise from the street has not been a problem. Keep the blinds closed during the day, to help keep your room cool. If you can score room 202, do so..,,it's probably the nicest room other than getting one of the suites. I like staying at the GG; it takes me about 60 seconds to go from my room to sitting at a BJ table. I plan on staying there again in October.

Glasses can affect your vision; especially when then have been emptied several times......
