Golden Gate temp. closing

I was contacted last night by a Casino Host stating my Dec. Resv. will be transfered over to the Fitz, as the GG will be closed for approx. 4 weeks on around Nov. 23rd. So, anyone staying there will probly be contacted by them on this as well.
I will be in town during that time. It's just the hotel, right?
I hope it is just the hotel. I'll be there early December and GG is always part of my daily routine.
Otherwise no shrimp cocktail.

Said rooms closed for remod and the casino to remain open.
Didn't they just refresh the rooms a couple years ago? They need to knock out a few walls and make the rooms bigger - especially the bathrooms.
I noticed yesterday that hotels . com is offerring specials at the GG for 2012, it was $20 a day for the weekdays. the only problem is that it is a set thing, you pay in advance and no refunds or changes once you made it. The $20 rate might be because of renovations going on but they don't tell you so it's possible that I could get there and encounter construction going on. not sure if it's worth the cheap rate if there is a lot of construction and noise going on.

thanks for the info though, had to be some reason why GG prices would be low during the convention times while every other place starts in the $30 a night.
I stayed there this year and cannot say how bad that place needs to be up dated! I really like the casino but couldnt stand those rooms.
Update on the closing dates, I called back to verify I use the same conf. # etc. at the Fitz, and asked more specifically about the dates, they said closing rooms on Nov. 28th until Dec. 23rd.
Must not be going to do too much to the rooms if they are only going to shut them down for that short period of time.

Hopefully since they bought Fitzgerald's they will update the rooms there too.
