You shove your way through the buffet line just to tell everyone how bad the food is. etc.etc." And who can forget you, with your know -it-all attitude? I have lived thru the changes in Vegas during my 25 years of visiting and happen to know what I am talking about. What you call complaints are, in fact, reasons why Vegas is becoming less attractive to me. I say to you, go ahead and keep paying more for less if you so desire. I realize that what I am saying will have no positive effect on you. Apparently you can't recognize reality for what it is. You are the very type of person Vegas is courting, the smart mouthed, demanding, entitled, insulting credit card wielding money wasting fool that spends more than they should while trying to impress. Some others find your postings here entertaining, I don't. You wait in the wings and then spring forth with your insults and foul mouth whenever the chance appears. I, for one, am tired of your act. Have a nice day.

Where in this world do rates/prices/amenities stay the same?
Yes, I may throw out an "F-bomb" here and there but you sir have a complete illogical way of looking at things.
I'm thinking you have a permanent brain fart.

You're missing the point. They are charging for things that 95% of the people don't use. I don't need the internet they provide. I carry my own mobile "hot spot". I don't use the gym. I don't belong to a health club at home. Why do I want to work out on a vacation. Newspaper???? Why do I care that a store is selling bananas for $.50 a pound. If I want the news, I'll get on the internet. Fancy pools??? Water is water. They're the ones that spent millions on the damn thing to entice me to stay there. That's on them, not me. Tell me ONE good reason to pay the extortion money and I'll be quiet.

I am not missing the point. I was responding to his complaints on everything about Vegas.

But I am also not going to let a resort fee stand in the way of where I stay.
I figure if I feel that X amount of $ is unreasonable, I'll just make it up in vodka.
Look at all the ppl who gamble and don't drink. They don't get their money's worth in my opinion.

There actually are some people out there who want to gamble while doing what they can to win (including playing some games in a smart and disciplined manner). Drinking alcoholic beverages while playing or right before playing will make it harder for them to end up being a winner since it tends to help cloud their judgement and make them lose their inhibitions.

So I wouldn't recommend drinking beverages containing Alcohol while or right before gambling for anyone who wants to have a decent (or better) shot at winning! That (drinking stuff other than something containing Alcohol) would better help people to get their "money's worth!"

Respectfully,

RecVPPlayer

I'm well aware of alcohol intake and gambling.

The cocktails I like cost about $12 each. If I can drink 2 per hour while losing less than $24 per hour I figure I'm in +EV territory and a winner.

I am similar to Treegirl.

If I can enjoy a Johnny Walker Blue, Remy XO, Far Niente Chardonnay, Silver Oak Cab or espresso martini while I am gambling, it is a bonus.

Not going to say I play video poker perfectly but after enough repetition it's almost buzz-resistent. lol

Same with me on playing. I play BJ & craps and play the same sober or not so sober.
I too go for the best liquor they will offer.

I hate resort fees as much as anyone. However, I don't think these fees would keep me from staying at a property. We all came to LVA with one thing in common, a savvy ability to save money. I would hate to think anyone here is not smart enough to see ALL cost associated with a particular room and use these totals to compare actual prices.

I have always looked at resort fees as a marketing ploy to make their room price seem lower to the unsuspecting buyer. It doesn't fool me so I don't care.....much. If these fees actually reduce the tax burden of a company now I really can't blame them.

This thread has spiraled. CowboyKell is right, these add on fee's are to keep advertised prices lower. It's just marketing 101.

drmilled turns everything into an attack, the next time he respectfully disagrees with someone will be the first. I will respectfully disagree with him on his list of reasons to hate what Vegas has become.
His long list of things that cost more should include everything, not just things in Vegas, everything everywhere. Service, comps, and gaming rules getting worse does suck, but if all the people threatening to stop going to Vegas keep their words, that might force the greedy corporations to change.
I've been going to Vegas longer than the good doctor, and I agree, I liked it better in 1985 than now. That doesn't change the fact that Vegas is still the best place for an adult vacation.

I don't know what Midwest casino options anyone thinks are better than Vegas. Share these gems with me please, because the casinos around Chicago suck compared to anything in Vegas.

My friends just got back from Vegas last week, their biggest complaint, $14 a day for wi-fi at LVH. That would never have happened in 1985.

All this over Golden Nugget's decision to hike room rates $5.

Drinks are free while you're gambling everywhere in Vegas so that's not a valid point. Besides, I don't drink anymore. I feel like crap every morning as it is. I don't need booze to make me feel worse. The point is, they have nothing to offer to justify me paying the fees. As long a the room has a nice bed, no bugs, and a hot shower, that's all I want. When you close your eyes to go to sleep in Vegas or any other city for that matter, every room looks the same. I work hard for my money and I want value for it when I spend it. I'm sure you work hard for yours too. You can spend it any way you want. If you want to get your fee money back with vodka..... go for it. I don't think I could swipe $100 in towels and little bars of soap an shampoo to make up the difference.

No. It's because they decided to call it a "FSE Fee". If they would have just raised the room rates, none of us would have batted an eye.
