The upset is obviously not over how much it is or what they call it, but the deceptive business practice of attempting to hide the cost from the non-savvy traveler.
Everone in this thread knows about resort fees and has the skills to account for them. What's hilarious is how hysterical they still get.

And they're not getting hysterical over the misfortunes of unaware travelers. They're hysterical for themselves, banging their head, stamping their feet, refusing to stay at any of what's now a vast majority of Vegas properties that price their rooms this way.

And so now it's just funny.

I agree with you. Everyone reading this thread knows about the resort fees. I'm speaking up for the thousands and thousands of people that are going to Vegas for the first time and don't know any better. How would you feel if it was the first time you went to Vegas and checking into your hotel, (after getting "long hauled", naturally" ) and having the desk clerk tell you he need an extra $15 per night for your "Resort Fee". That's a real good first impression of a city. Getting rammed hard twice within the first hour of your trip.

How do you know? Maybe they're taking a stand on principles rather than self interest.

Thank you sir.

We've about worn out the resort fee (now FSE fee apparently) discussion. Summary: No one likes resort fees (FSE fees). No one. But most consumers are savvy enough to discern the additional cost and decide whether they want to stay at the property. But others consider it a line in the sand, a litmus test, if you will.

I will factor in the base cost of the room, factor in the additional fees, consider the property, quality of room, amenities, pay tables, fun factor, reputation for customer service, etc. and then decide whether to book a room. But that's just me.

That's the problem today. People are just lemmings and just jump off the cliff. If something's wrong, the discussion should NEVER end, no matter what it is. The problem is that there are three big players in Vegas and they can do what ever they want. The government never should have let these monopoly's happen. There's no competition for your money anymore on the strip and that's why they get away with it.

Carry on.

I'm going to make lemingade with my lemmings.

I agree. Resort fees and longhauling both suck.

That's why I said on page 1 of this thread that the Nevada Legislature should do like DOT did with airline fees and require resort fees to be folded into the quoted price. Resort fees upset unwitting customers and give the industry a black eye. Longhauling is illegal, and resort fees should be too.

As for taking a stand on principle, well, I think we're deep enough into the resort fee years to recognize that the market has spoken and that (absent a change in the law) resort fees are here to stay. These individual boycotts aren't working, and are only hurting the boycotters.
Buyer just beware of all the fees. I still very much enjoy Las Vegas. Just be smart. I mainly play low limit video poker and enjoy games I can't get here (quick quads, wheel poker, $.01 hundred play, etc). Also, I definitely partake in the free cocktails offered. Just bring a nice stack of $1 bills with me for tipping.

Murderer.

Is there actually a casino or a third part booking agency that does not mention in the resort fees in their fine print? I think there are a lot of lazy people who don't really look at what they are booking and buying and then play the victim role when it happens.
Standard operating procedure - $5 thread turns into the normal LVA bicker-fest. Surprised there have been no dueling banjos over the fact that the Good Doctor actually has two #4s in his list of ten back there on page two - - - which would make it a list of 11. This really ticks me off because no one should try and slide an 11th item into a supposed Top Ten list. That's really sneaky.

The Chiller is generally all over things of this magnitude.
Twagner is correct about my # of items in my list - and I actually have more items I could have listed. Point being, Vegas has become less of a vacation/fun place and has turned into a never sated vacuum of any and all visitors monies. Everyday a new "fee". As I have stated previous times, you can spend your money any way you wish. Just don't tell me how to spend mine. I know when I am being robbed, and the bean counters are doing a great job of fleecing the sheep - and you know who you are.
