The Governor of Oregon has Resigned

******quote***
Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber [Democrat] resigned effective Wednesday, Feb. 18, in a letter submitted to Secretary of State Kate Brown.Kitzhaber's resignation does not end the criminal investigation against him and his fiancee, Cylvia Hayes, or the state ethics review.

The [Democrat] Governor [stated] "I must also say that it is deeply troubling to me to realize that we have come to a place in the history of this great state of ours where a person can be charged, tried, convicted and sentenced by the media with no due process and no independent verification of the allegations involved. But even more troubling -- and on a very personal level as someone who has given 35 years of public service to Oregon -- is that so many of my former allies in common cause have been willing to simply accept this judgment at its face value."

DonDiego is shocked, . . . simply shocked. A crooked [Democrat] Governor.

Apparently the [Democrat] Governor got mixed up with a crooked fiancé:

__Ms. Hayes is alleged to have used her position close to the governor to land clients for her environmental consulting business. Recently-released e-mails show Hayes directed state employees how to implement a new policy while she was being paid $25,000 by an advocacy group to promote it.
__It's also been reported that Hayes earned $118,000 over two years for a fellowship with the Clean Economy Development Center, and that the money didn't match the earnings reported on her tax returns.
__The spotlight on financial issues also led to Hayes’s revelation that she accepted about $5,000 to illegally marry a young Ethiopian man seeking immigration benefits in the 1990s, which she called "the biggest mistake of my life."
__Later, she admitted to having purchased a remote property with the intent to grow marijuana.
__Although Hayes had an office and computer at the State Capitol in Salem, her lawyers have argued that "she was never a part of state government” and therefore not subject to ethics commission jurisdiction.

And all for money, . . . filthy lucre, . . . bucks, . . . loot, . . . unlawful gain, . . . plunder, . . . booty, . . . well, of course booty, too!
DonDiego is saddened.
A Democrat -surely you jest! Some things NEVER change, from the White House on down.
The difference between Republicans and Democrats:
An elected Democrat gets caught doing something wrong and Democrats say, "we think you should resign."
An elected Republican gets caught doing something wrong and Republicans say, "we think you should run for President."
I bet that felt good for DonDiego to get out....all that sequestered political bickering he's held in for so many weeks now. Must have been pure hell.

Im happy to decry unethical behavior wherever i see it...but here's the score for people who approach political ethics with the same disposition they do NFL football
when it comes to convicted governors, the GOP is up by a field goal

madlibber2.......Richard Nixon had the decency to resign the presidency in disgrace for something he didn't do.What did the Democrats hero Bill Clinton do after he was found guilty of lying to congress and embarrassing us in front of the whole world? yup, he smiled in our faces and used the old whoopsy daisy defense.

Bill Clinton lied about a consensual blow job. Hardly a high crime and misdemeanor.

I'd point you to David "Dirty Diapers" Vitter a U.S. Senator representing Louisiana who got caught lying about his affairs with hookers. It seems Mr. Vitter has a thing for hiring prostitutes, defecating in his diapers and having the prostitutes change them. When Mr. Vitter was subpoenaed to testify in the DC Madam case Mr. Vitter's attorney said Mr. Vitter would be pleading the 5th in all matters regarding his relationships with prostitutes. Mr. Vitter will only admit to "serious sin" when it comes to his relationship with prostitutes. When Mr. Vitter last ran for reelection he was given money by the National Republican party as well as many conservative groups. In other words Republicans from all over the country contributed to his reelection funds. He is currently the most likely candidate to replace Bobby Jindal as Governor of Louisiana.

We have, Scott DesJarlais current Republican U.S. House member who is staunchly anti-abortion. DesJarlais an MD admitted under oath he had six extra material including two with his patients. He tried to abort three of his children two by his now ex wife and one by his mistresses. He was endorsed for reelection by none other than John Boehner and Mitch McConnell. He was given party money as well as money by conservative groups. Meaning if you supported the Republican Party or any of the groups that gave this guy money you aided and abetted his baby killing ways.

We have the current Governor of the State of Florida who invoked the 5th amendment 75 times to avoid going to jail, and his company committed the largest criminal fraud upon the U.S. Government in U.S. history. After winning a second term it was revealed he fired the State's top law enforcement officer for refusing to target one of his political enemies when there was no evidence she did anything wrong.

Not to mention current Presidential candidate Rick Perry is under a felony criminal indictment and is facing over 25 years in the clink.

And that is just off the top of my head.
Neither party has a monopoly on unethical behavior.

Unethical behavior gets you a promotion in the Republican party.

Like they all don't do that metaphorically.

Keep your scatological metaphors to yourself.
