Governor Pence finally did it (POL)

I was pleasantly surprised for the first few years of Governor Mike Pence's tenure in Indiana. He did lots of things I would expect from a Republican but nothing jaw-dropping like outlawing contraception, changing school curiculums, or shutting down unions. But rationality and Mike Pence can only be partnered for so long....

This week he signed a bill that brings back Woolworth's lunch counters to their former glory. In the state of Indiana it is now legal for a business to discrimnate against any customer by virtue of the business owner's religous beliefs. In other words - its not really discrimination if their religion says its ok.
What a shame ... he was doing so well....

And now the economic impact is being foreshadowed. GenCon (an annual 50 million dollar convention), Salesforce.com, and even a Christian convention are threatening to boycott the state out of fear their consituents will be discrimnated against. Oh, the NCAA is livid too - especially since the Final Four is being palyed in town this year. They're also considering future options.

Hate has a price. So does electing a hateful person.
I wish the SCOTUS would get off their asses and make some broad decisions instead of all these narrow decisions that don't adequately spell out what is constitutional and what isn't.
Add another company to the list. Angie's List cancels 40 million dollar expansion in Indianapolis and cites the Republican discrimination law as the direct reason. Thanks for sending jobs to a different state, Gov!
I'm so ashamed.

Let Angie move it to Oregon or Washington, where it will cost triple what it would to set up in Indiana, and people are free to sue bakeries for $150,000 (and win) for not wanting to produce gay wedding cakes. Move to SanFran and it'll cost way more than triple, but every baker will make you a cake to celebrate what ever perverted union you wish.

You just made that up, didn't you Bob?

The Law states: "Government shall not substantially burden a person's exercise of religion even if the burden results from a rule of general applicability."

This seems reasonable.

Why would anyone want the Government to burden a person's exercise of religion?
Liberals only place value on their beliefs, and they argue that all other beliefs must not be considered. They prove my point with their comments.

DonDiego notes that Towns County and Union County, Georgia are growing, . . . and employees near there would have an excellent view of the Total Solar Eclipse in August 2017.
Also Wilson County, Tennessee, next to Nashville . . . same reasons.
Weather is pr'bly a mite better too in those locales, . . . specially in Winter.

DonDiego suggests Angie consider these alternatives. Governor Pence may have inadvertently improved the lives of Angie's potential employees.

Probably when religion "burdens people's civil rights".

But DonDiego is not alone in his opinion on this matter. There is a long, dark history in our country of people trying to use religion as a mask for discrimination.
When religion was used to defend racism.

Enlighten me. What's the counter belief that the new law is good for business?

Edited to add: Angie's List cancelling 40 million dollars of expansion in Indianapolis is not a "point of view". It is a fact.
