Nobody has answered the question?

What was the point of the law, then?

Freedom, man. Freedom.

A perfect example of why smart people don't bother trying to answer insincere questions posed by hoops2.

Someone told him the lie that the Indiana law was already passed in 20 other states. And he believed that person, because it made him more comfortable with his prejudces.

When Gov. Pence signed Indiana's law last month, it was the first law to both
* allow for-profit businesses to assert a right to free-exercise of religion; and
* allow such businesses to cite that right in defense of a private illegal discrimination claim.

It doesn't matter to hoops2 that Indiana's law is unique. He wants to believe it's the same as the law in 20 other states, and so that's what he will believe.

Here are some links on the subject that hoops2 will have no use for.

For the cons it is all about finding new ways to use the Hobby Lobby ruling to allow business to avoid complying with laws and regulations.

Generally speaking if you open a business you have obtained a business license from the state the terms of which require that you do certain things like collect state and local sales tax. If your business is anything other than a proprietorship or simple partnership your business exists because you applied for and were granted a charter by the state.

Government in effect has created an artificial person for you which the Federal Government holds in such high esteem that it has granted your artificial construct rights in many respects that are superior to those of living breathing persons. Finally your business is connected to infrastructure that the taxpayers paid for sidewalks, roads, utility lines and so on.

Your business wouldn't exist without the taxpayers black, white, gay straight and every other flavor.

Why can't a business owner refuse service to anyone he/she wants? Why must our constitutional rights end when we start a business? If someone is willing to risk their own money and wants to open a Ku Klux Klan store and serve only whites or someone wants to open a Black Panther store and serve only blacks they should have that right.

Someone shows up at Malibber Printing Co. and wants flyers made that say "White Power". I guess you would would print them since you think we must set our conscience aside when we open a business.

If you still had your shingle, should you, or any other attorney (especially a gay attorney) be forced by the government to represent the Westboro (God hates fags) Baptist Church?
Folks can gain a distorted view of reality with the aid of today's media. Before addressing Indiana's new law, lets consider a few situations.

Many folks believe that flying is unsafe, while the truth is just the opposite. 3 billion passengers each year across the globe. 3 trillion passenger flight miles flown. 761 passenger fatalities across the entire globe last year! 4 billion passenger flight miles flown per fatality. There were 2500 auto fatalities in California alone last year.

Lets take American Murder rates. Most folks argue that it is far more dangerous than in the past, yet the opposite is true. American murder rates have decreased 50% over the past 50 years.

Now lets talk about my home state of Indiana. The media and Liberals have successfully bastardized the truth regarding the Indiana law and it's intent. It was a very narrow law intended to allow a photographer who was fined for refusing to shoot a gay wedding the ability to argue his religion in court. That has not been allowed in Indiana. All attorneys agree that it could never be successfully utilized in court to support one's refusal to serve one pizza at the Walkerton, IN pizzeria.

It's inaccurate and untrue to portray Indiana as you have.

Guess now they'll be putting the signs back up on drinking fountains and restrooms. I'm old enough to remember the "good ol days" and they weren't always all that good. I hate to see the backward steps we are taking in many arenas in the name of religion. I consider myself a spiritual person and I believe in God, but the God I worship was a forgiving and accepting God...He didn't discriminate...those are mortal man's actions. k

Is it true that Snidely concluded that the law was bad, yet he didn't realized that the law does not address gays whatsoever? I've read the law, and here's the link if you would like to read it. It's not particularly long.

Has anyone other than Boilerman read the Indiana Religious Freedom Law?
And the fanatical haters shutdown a family business through social media, while the writer of the Rolling Stone "Rape" article keeps her job and never apologizes to the fraternity. Heck, she may receive the Pulitzer, just like our President received the Nobel Peace Prize just months after taking office.

Don't be ridiculous. We all know that Liberals believe that only those possessing like views to them should enjoy such rights.
