I find it interesting how Liberals, who demand tolerance, are so intolerant of the civil rights of those those possessing views different from themselves.

Liberals like the Republican mayor of Indianapolis? He's probably just good at basic economics and realizes a 40 million dollar investment in his city is better than ....not having a 40 million dollar investment in his city.

Funny how the party that claims to champion the principals of business and capitalism is scaring off massive investment and conventions in the state. Revenue takes a back seat to protecting a bigot's right to discriminate. Just like at the Federal level - Republicans ruin the economy and Democrats clean it up.

Which bigots? Please be specific.

If Boiler is correct and this legislation will be unnoticeable or virtually unnoticeable to the Indiana populace and it's visitors, then Liberals, as expected, are making something of nothing. I suspect that maybe one in a thousand businesses will turn away business.

Weggie, Liberals are making a mountain out of a molehill. I live in Indiana, and few will ever notice any different in their day to day lives. The few that do experience an issue will do so once or twice over a decade. I had cocktails yesterday with with a couple of gay guys, and I'm confident that they will never experience an issue in our home town. Never.

Of course those living in NY and California somehow believe that gays still sit in the back of the bus in Indiana.

I think all who are screaming about this law are looking at it as a shot at gays. I did not think of it in that way. A business should have the right to run their business how they see fit. DO you really think that some restaurants are going to refuse service to a black, latino or sexual preference. Any other person a different color than the owner views as "fit"? Well, if they should choose to such, the backlash will have them out of business in a reasonable time period.

Let me be more clear to Forkie? Don't all bigots have rights?

I was pleasantly surprised for the first few years of Governor Mike Pence's tenure in Indiana. He did lots of things I would expect from a Republican but nothing jaw-dropping like outlawing contraception, changing school curiculums, or shutting down unions. But rationality and Mike Pence can only be partnered for so long....

This week he signed a bill that brings back Woolworth's lunch counters to their former glory. In the state of Indiana it is now legal for a business to discrimnate against any customer by virtue of the business owner's religous beliefs. In other words - its not really discrimination if their religion says its ok.
What a shame ... he was doing so well....

And now the economic impact is being foreshadowed. GenCon (an annual 50 million dollar convention), Salesforce.com, and even a Christian convention are threatening to boycott the state out of fear their consituents will be discrimnated against. Oh, the NCAA is livid too - especially since the Final Four is being palyed in town this year. They're also considering future options.

Hate has a price. So does electing a hateful person.

PJ you should probably just pack up and leave Indiana before any of this discriminates against you directly.

This message has been brought to you by the Indiana Republican Party.

Boilerman is not correct.

- A 50 million dollar convention is threatening to leave. Downtown hotels/restaurants/shops have noticed...and they're pissed
- a 40 million dollar corporate expansion has been cancelled. I suspect job seekers and construction companies have noticed

Boilerman may be blind to the economic impacted created by Indiana Republican legislation....but I promise you local businesses are not.

Boiler sure is charming with the ladies.
