Grand Canyon White Water Rafting Day Trip Tour

I been thinking about booking a White Water rafting trip while in Las vegas this May. The day trip is a all day tour that leaves at 4am and gets back to Vegas around 730 pm. The trip cost between $500 and $600.00 depending on what tour operator you book through.

Has anyone ever done this tour and is it worth the money? I just dont know if I want to be gone from Vegas for the the whole day. If anyone has done this I would love feed back and please let me know who to book it with. I dont know why the price diffrences between operators but it would be a once in a life time event to do this in the Grand Canyon.

I wasn't aware they have day trips . . though, everyone I know who has taken an overnight trip has loved it.

If I'm going somewhere new or somewhere I don't visit very often that has casinos, I try to do several non-gaming activities. If it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, go for it!

We took as similar tour probably 5 years ago, though it was only like $160 per person. Picked up at the hotel much later than 4am, and returned to the hotel around 4:30-5pm. It was an excellent way to spend the day.

It was a motorized raft with a guide, so "white water rafting" is somewhat of an exaggeration, but we weren't looking for that kind of action. There were about a dozen of us on the raft. The guide pointed out all sorts of geology and wild life (big horn sheep, etc.). We pulled over to shore for a box lunch, then back out onto the water. Finished the trip about 11 miles downstream, loaded onto a bus and taken to our hotels. We were exhausted and a nap was definitely in order

Wear sun screen. Expect to get wet, at least your feet/legs. It was well worth the money. Sounds like your trip may be a bit longer, maybe some added features, being that many hours and that expensive. Check other tours.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I would look into flying (small plane or chopper) instead of half-day in a bus/van getting over and back.
