Gratitude to Gaga

I was not a fan, but she earned my respect. A nice American patriotic entrance, a shout out to mom and dad, no political spewing, decently tasteful outfits and no vulgarity. She is a decent singer and looks much better without the attention seeking outfits and hair. Why, I think tony bennett did make a lady out of the Gaga.

And let's face it, she sang one of my favorite patriotic songs from childhood. This land is your land. This land is my land. From California to the New York islands.

To answer questions about my patriotism level. I post this song on my Facebook every Fourth of July along with a few other songs. I love this country! That is why I am passionate about it.

Thankful for the NFL making the day relatively politically free. Wise choice and refreshing.
"This land"is not a patriotic song. In fact, it originally was called God Blessed America for me, and was meant to ridicule Irving Berlin's God bless America.
One verse talks about running into a sign marked no trespassing, but on the other side it didn't say anything. That side was meant for you and me.
Another verse talks about finding his people on the line of the welfare office.
The song ends with a question
Is this land meant for you and me?
Peter ,Paul and Mary sanitized the song in the 60s.
Don't care I like the song and to me it is pride in our country. Tired of people saying something beautiful isn't beautiful. People try to say the flag isn't. People try to say the anthem isn't. I am over it. People try to hate on Santa too. Trying to create hate and drama out of cultural icons takes a special kind of hatred. Symbols of love and humanity evolve and become their own selves. Don't care where they did or did not originate thousands or millions of years ago.

This land is your land. This land is my land from California to the New York islands. From the redwood forest to the gulf steam waters. This land was made for you and me.

Love your neighbor and the vast and beautiful land that is our large and diverse country. This was a concept I loved and was taught in first grade. I actually had the privilege to travel cross country with a foreigner recently. The awesomeness of that is unexplainable. We all know our country is one of the largest and most diverse countries, but to experience that with someone for the first time was very honoring and humbling.

I'm sure you don't care but this is written by Woodie Guthrie in the 1940s,not thousands of years ago. I'm not sure anyone ever accused Woodie or his son Arlo of being patriots. You might ask Tailgunner Joe about him.

Woody Guthrie was a member of the "workers party" wrote a column in the daily worker. Debate was if he was a card carrying member of team red.

I'll take Ray Charles singing "America the Beautiful" over all other patriotic songs.

Kate Smith starting a hockey game with "God Bless America" was pretty good also.

I find it amazing that libs can not just enjoy something for what it is if that something can be dissected and be made a topic for their moronic agenda. Nice going, billryan, we know that we can ALWAYS count on YOU to be true to yourself. And you call me an asshole....
Why state the obvious?
billryan-"Why state the obvious" --------- because it is obvious that you are too obtuse to realize what you see in the mirror....
oooh.cool comeback.
In a Super Bowl performance that spanned her entire discography, Lady Gaga opened her act with a rendition of Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land,” which has become a popular anthem at rallies protesting President Trump across the country.
