Greatest Country Song Ever

Tight Fittin Jeans--Conway Twitty
Just a note:

Good country songs typically have one or more of the following

A pickup truck
Prison
Breaking up with/wife girlfriend
A dog
Getting drunk
Sung with a twang

You forgot the train. Which brings up "You Never Even Call Me By My Name" by Steve Goodman, with help from David Alan Coe. The final verse:

Well, I was drunk the day my Mom got outta prison.
And I went to pick her up in the rain.
But, before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got runned over by a damned old train

This may not be the greatest country song ever, but it IS "The Perfecty Country & Western Song" (it's alternative title).

Another good choice.

I also remember a song from when I first started listening to country music,"I'm no stranger to the rain" by Keith Whitley, who is no longer with us.I believe he was married to Lorrie Morgan at the time of his death.
