Well, nothing much happened the rest of the trip except LOSING. The last night.....or what I thought was going to be the last night....I played by myself and things just didn't go so well. It seems like the money was evaporating like water.
Just a couple of more notes about things being offered at the Silverton. They now have a Topas Bar in Twin Creeks, and to celebrate, they are offering HALF PRICED appetizers from 6-8 pm. On Thursdays, they have Buck It! drinks at all bars. Well drinks and some beers for only $1.
After traveling to Lake LV, I couldn't believe all the changes since I had been there last time, which was around when it opened. When you first enter LLV, you pas the golf course first. It looked CLOSED!!!! Since homes were built around the golf course, and I'm sure some sort of membership came with the purchase of a house, I wondered what the homeowners were thinking about having a closed golf course? Who knows? Maybe it saved them money as the maintenance costs for keeping it open were too high.
I then passed the closed casino which was supposed to reopen this coming summer. I think it was called Casino Monte Largo. Near the closed casino are the sops which house RMCF. As I parked the car and started to enter the shopping complex, I wondered how these people were making a living. Two men exiting the complex asked me if I had been here before. One man was just coming back to Vegas from living in Hawaii for 6 years. We three discussed how it seemed impossible to make a living owning a business there.
As I continued my walk to the RMCF, I couldn't help but notice a small ice skating rink at the edge of the lake. No one was using it, but it was a unique idea. What a shame. Finally I found the entrance to the RMCF and I walked inside. I introduced myself to the owner Sue, which already had our preordered goods in a bag on the counter. Just then, 2 couples walked in, and I let her wait on them while I was still undecided about what to buy. I helped tout her products as it looked like she could use all the sales she could get.
As I was placing my order, I told her I was staying at the Silverton. She told me that her broker was negotiating for her to open up a store at the Silverton. They (Silverton) must be expanding somewhere in the hotel, as I've also heard they are finally opening up a new gift shop. As we were talking, two more couple walked into the shop, and I let her continue my order after she waited on them. Again, I touted her products. These people were from Florida, and have moved to LV.
She gave me a soft drink while I waited, and we finally continued my order. Besides the original 4 special apples, I then ordered jellied filled dark chocolate bars, English and Macadamian Toffees, Haystacks, Clusters and Bear Claws. After all was said and done, my order totaled just under $75. She wound up throwing in four chocolate covered strawberries. I told her we would be back in three weeks. She told me she lived near the Silverton and would gladly deliver whatever I wanted instead of making the trip to Lake LV.
The GF was talking to her daughter who now lives in Illinois, and she was told they were coming out to Vegas on March 6th. She told her she would make arrangements for her and the family in a suite with an adjoining double bed room. That meant that we would now be coming back on March 4th. After I found out that was a Friday, I moved it to March 3rd. I then realized that it was NASCAR week in Vegas, and I had invites from two hotels for accommodations and tickets for the race. Looks like I was going to take the Silverton offer and I now have 4 tickets reserved for the Dale Earnhart Pavillion, Section 310. Supposedly they are just before the finish line. Her son said he would go with his GF, and I told him he could take two friends. Transportation to and from the casino is included.
So it looks like in less than two weeks, I'll be back at the Silverton. It would be crazy to even think that jackpot will still be waiting for me until I get back, but you never know. It was over $6500 when I left.
When we started, I had 127,000+ points. Just before we left, I was nearing 295,000 BUT I had redeemed 200,000 points to buy 2 Bass Pro Shop gift cards. So this trip I had put on about 370,000 points. You need 400,000 points in a year to be a Diamond cardholder.
