Why did Ted Cruz vote against the Hurricane Sandy "emergency" relief package?

Ted Cruz was critical of the emergency relief for the Northeastern states because only 30% of the authorized funds would be spent in the first 20 months, and over a billion dollars would be spent as late as 2021. It's not 'emergency relief' if it's taking almost 10 years to spend it; it's just pork. Even Politifact conceded that the Hurricane Sandy emergency relief bill contained billions of dollars that had nothing to do with emergency relief.

Why does Forky twist the truth with Political hit-pieces?

Wait a minute...are you sayin' Forkush took something out of context in a deceitful fashion?...
No, I don't think jphelan is that stupid, but we'll see. I quoted a headline in full, and a the job of a headline writer is to accurately summarize an article. That's pretty much the OPPOSITE of taking something out of context, isn't it?

But both involve writing words, so alanleroy, I see how you got confused.

I see. Now you don't think the actual reasons behind a statement...or a headline or a sound bite or a vote are important. At least not when it serves your purpose. Forkie was for context before he was against it.

Gee, I don't recall criticizing jphelan post. His linkless claims may even have some validity, but I don't know.

But your claim that my quoting a news headline in full is taking something "out of context?" Well that's just dim.

Alrighty then. If DonDiego had merely posted a headline from say The Wall Street Journal that quoted Mrs. Clinton's "What Difference Does it Make" meme, instead of simply and directly quoting Mrs. Clinton...that would have been perfectly ok...no longer a deceitful tagline taken out of context? Is that what you're claiming now?

I do believe that is perfectly hypocritical of you. Why you didn't even provide a link to the hit piece err...article from your headline....and you certainly didn't share with us Senator Cruz's motivation for voting against the original pork filled Sandy bill...nor the fact that he is not requesting such a bill with billions in unrelated spending for Texas...only that the Federal Government and FEMA do the job taxpayers are paying them to do....provide relief to those impacted.

How deceitful of you....well as deceitful as The Elder DonDiego anyway. Hopefully you'll just rethink your original indictment of DonDiego...instead of digging yourself a deeper hole.

At least Forky has a shovel ready job!

Hey! I was attempting to clear your good name through thought provoking commentary.

"Hopefully you'll just rethink your original indictment of DonDiego"...Was my completed suggestion for Forkush.

Way to take it out of context. They have a name for people like you.

Actually, that would have been a typical DonDiego citation from a partisan discredited source. Remember his Naked Crucifixions in Saudi Arabia? Or his climate change denying scientist who also denied evolution? And the WSJ news department would never have a headline like that, because it deliberately misrepresents Hillary Clinton's original statement. So your example is witless.

But you criticize the NY Daily News headline for leaving out that Cruz had REASONS for voting against Sandy aid. alanleroy, they always have (good? bad? honest? dishonest? open? undisclosed?) reasons. That's a pretty simple concept; I don't know why it escapes you. But since you think that has to be explicitly stated every time, I hope this makes you happy:

Ha! Ha! Ha!
forkushV called alanleroy "witless". Now we'll see who's feelings get hurt.
