Happy 100th President Reagan

Like him or not, this week would have been President Reagan's 100 birthday.

Here's some music: land of confusion

"General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization, come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"

Of course Reagan's legacy often leaves out things like this:

the day the world almost ended

Happy birthday President Reagan.
I am a liberal Democrat, and obviously I did not agree with some of President Reagan's policies, but I have to give the man a lot of credit. He had a sunny disposition, he was primarily responsible for the U.S. winning the cold war, and he was no xenophobe nativist like a lot of the Republican leadership today. Remember, he signed an immigration bill in 1986 that included amnesty for deserving immigrants that were in the U.S. illegaly. Now THAT is compassionate conservatism. Happy b-day, Mr. President!
He had a great sense of humor.

"I've just signed legislation that will outlaw the Soviet Union forever. Bombing will begin in five minutes."
