DISCLAIMER: DON'T FLAME ME AS THIS IS AN OLD LIST!
These are some things I put together for my sister in March of last year. I don't have time to check out if they are still available. I haven't been to Vegas in a couple of years, perhaps others can update these.
The first thing I would check out is the LVA Top 10 for the last couple of months. Even though they might not be in this month's Top 10, they may still be good deals.
If you want to bus downtown, ask at the hotel about the express buses behind the
hotel otherwise it will take forever.
See if Wynn Las Vegas has two free buffets for getting 50 points on a new slot club card. If so, play video roulette, bet black and red the same amount and enough on 00 to cover any losses on red & black if it hits. That way you'll get two $50 buffets for about $10-$15. Quit once you've accumulated the required
points. You can do it twice if both you and your friend don't have cards yet. They will heat their split crab legs on the grill if you ask, but they cool down so quickly, I'm not sure it's worth it. The creme brule is excellent. They also had a spin the wheel promotion that allowed you to win free things with a new card.
You might want to check out the paid side of the LVA and also their membership coupons. I haven't been a member for several years since I don't go as often as I used to.
You could pick the coupon book up behind the Rio if it's too late to mail it. Plus you get access to message boards, clubs, restaurants, gambling, etc. on the paid side. But I saw a recent post that there's not much to offer over there, but since I'm not a member, I can't give you first hand advice on that.
If you've booked directly with the hotel/casino and can find a lower price online, they will normally match that price without any penalty. Try Kayak.com or the LVA used to have a comparison site.
Register at GoldStar for Vegas and it will e-mail you weekly offers of half price tickets to shows.
Bellagio Fountains show - Go to the Fontana bar which is in the Bellagio in the middle of the fountains, buy a drink ($8 and up) and go out on the patio to get a spectacular, un-crowded view of the fountain show. You will also feel a mist from the fountains, you're that close. The Fontana also has some really
good musicians that play there, mostly jazz and classic rock.
The lobby and Observatory in the Bellagio is decorated seasonally. Then just past the observatory, is a 20 ft tall chocolate fountain and a decadent sweet shop.
Mirage Volcano show - Go across the street to the second story restaurant, (Casino Royale's Outback Steakhouse I believe) order drinks or an appetizer sit by the windows to get a fantastic unobstructed view of the volcano show without the crowds.
Siegfried & Roy's Magic Garden and Dolphin Exhibit at Mirage - never been
M&M's store - real close to the MGM
Pinball Hall of Fame - A couple blocks from the strip, might be too old fashioned for you. They have 50-100 old pinball machines you can play. East of the strip on Tropicana. It's a good place to kill some time and bring back memories.
The Neon Museum is supposed to be very interesting. Lots of Vegas history rusting away there. Lots of cool old signs from the past. I've never been and you need a car and an appointment for a tour.
Many more free activities - for kids and adults - are listed at the full-of-information Vegas4Locals Web site. And don't let the name fool you - many of these will be of interest to tourists as well.
To quote someone "I think Springs Preserve was over looked, how I have no idea. If I had children in Vegas between 7 and 9 this would be the first place I would take them. Even adults may learn something here and actually have fun doing it. Still waiting for the LVA to have a complete review of the place. Must be the best kept secret in Las Vegas."
I've never been. https://www.springspreserve.org/
Another old post I'm quoting "Harrah's All Stage Pass for $99 - it works IF: (not sure if it's still available) you buy it on day one at like 9:00 pm and go to a 10:00 pm show the following day, go nutso and go to a matinee, an early show and a late show day three (while you are still in the 48 hour period) go to another matinee and another evening show I personally would not have interest in going all around jumping from show to show, but i bet other people would. AND i bet this makes shows sell out, rendering your pass worthless. they should really let you get your tickets when you pay the $99 instead of at each show individually. you still have to pay tax, LET and fees for each show on top of the $99.00."
Sirens show at TI Lingerie skimpily clad women pirates battle men.
Hard Rock (Lucky 777) The $7.77 unadvertised steak and shrimp meals (very loud rock music plays in the casino making it hard to talk). They also have a prime rib special called the 999.
Rio - Voodoo Lounge on the roof. Go before sunset and watch the strip turn on. It's free admission before a certain time and turns into a nightclub later. Get stamped and come back in. Other views Top of the Strat, Playboy club (Palms), Rain (Palms), Ghost Bar (Palms), MIX (Mandalay Bay), (dressy and pricy but they have windows in the bathroom stalls and supposed to be one of the best views of the strip.) Veloce Cibo (M).
Tthe Freemont Street Experience, (Fremont Street at night. Strippers dealing cards, motorcycle stunt shows), people-watching on the strip and downtown, trips to Red Rock Canyon and Boulder Dam, the Liberace Museum, the Nuclear Museum, the antique cars showroom at the Imperial Palace.
While on Fremont Street, take in the Golden Nugget swimming pool & Shark Tank. You will be asked for a room key to gain access by the guard, but if you say you're going to play poolside blackjack, they will let you in.
The aquarium at the Silverton (south of the main strip) has been voted one of the best free attractions in Vegas for a couple of years running. Also has a Bass Pro shop.
The double deck Deuce bus round trip from start to finish. Way to see the entire strip and familiarize yourself with what is where, etc. Best to get it at the end of the route to insure front row upper deck seats. $7.00 all day pass, or if over 50 or 55 (don't remember so telephone before going if in between),
reduced fare pass is $7.50 for 3 days. You have to go to the central terminal to get the reduced fare pass photo ID card (free) good for all bus routes.
Almost all of the shuttles. (May be some that require hotel key at busy times, etc.) There are links in another thread on the forum free side with maps, times, etc. (Not sure if they even run anymore).
Casino Royale has sidewalk free play slots, and everyone "wins". Drink, match play, or free play on promo machines inside. Play every hour or so, depending on attention span of the "attendant". Also free slot pulls at Four Queens and Binions, and perhaps still at other casino's.
This site has a pretty good list of the cheap, free, promo, etc "stuff": https://www.lasvegasgamblingedge.com/
Make sure you go see the three story chandelier in the Cosmopolitan. There are bars inside the handelier it's that huge. I've never seen it but it gets rave reviews.
