Harrah's Las Vegas, 4 weeks!

Staying at Harrahs in 4 weeks with a friend. Just wondering if I should take an upgrade to a premium room if offered in comparison to the classic room I currently have booked??

Also, isn't the Carnival Tower the nicer one??

Thanks LVA posters!
Depends on what the upgrade actually provides.
Sometimes you get an extra sofa and they call that an upgrade.

What they used to call a mini-suite was a basic room with a few extra square feet and a sofa.

Maybe the website has pictures.

When you check in, ask for a high floor with a Strip view. Don't pay for an "upgrade".

As of years ago, the other tower (can't recall the name--Mardi Gras?) was fine. Had one of our best rooms in that tower. It overlooked the Strip and the volcano at the Mirage. And we hadn't asked for any sort of upgrade. The furniture was nicer also.
Stayed in both towers last year and found them to be basically the same. The bathroom and furniture was slightly nicer in Carnival.
Both had a nice view of High Roller, even though I didn't pay for an upgrade.

The Mardi Gras room was larger (prob used to be a mini-suite). One had a funny little "balcony" that was six inches deep, I think it was the Mardi gras.

The funny thing was that the MG room was the last door on the MG tower hallway, so the room was much closer to the Carnival elevators (just around the corner) - the faster and less crowded ones. I never knew the two towers were connected.
ask for and upgrade to another hotel.

If I was staying w my wife I'd stay in a nicer hotel, but it's just the fellas. I got the room for $40 a night with possible upgrade to a premium room for an $28 a night. For the location and price I'm giving Harrah's a shot this year. It can't be any worse than a comped Rio last year! LOL.
You'll always find someone that feels the need to insult folks on their hotel choice. If you stay at Harrahs, some will imply that you're cheap. If you stay at Wynn, others will insult you for wasting your money. You'll have a great time at Harrah's.

And good luck!

greggo24, nothing wrong with staying at harrahs, I was just kidding of course, im just not a fan of CET. im a budget traveler myself, and especially in vegas. I will splurge when I want to, but usually a basic, clean room is just fine. it allows more $$ for my gambling budget. shelling out big money for a room that I would spend very little time in would be frivolous if it was not a very special occasion. this allows me to make 2-3 vegas trips per year instead of 1. best of luck to ya! I hope that we will soon be reading a trip report from you, telling us about your big win!!
Thank you for clarifying. I apologize for misconstruing your position.
