Harrah's Resort Southern California Retaliates

Candy -- in the past year Caesars cut free play offers across the board. A year or so ago I was getting as much as $2,500 in free play and now I am down to $300. This is all due to the bankruptcy.

Rincon, of course, is only managed by Caesars and Caesars is managing the Rincon Tribe's money. In the case of Rincon they poured a lot of money into a Convention Center that no one is using, and they doubled the size of the hotel -- two huge construction projects that have to be paid for. So I don't think you can compare the cuts at Rincon with the cuts in Vegas.

However, in both cases players must be aware: at Rincon you're not going to find a generous casino anymore. Remember they also cut their video poker paytables and took out a lot of progressive slot jackpots.

Absolutely a valid question.

Bellagio's offer was a one-time offer to get me to come back there after an absence of about 7 years. You might recall I got into a fight with their craps dealers over setting dice, and a floorman who asked me to leave.

Caesars does offer me $300 but it involves a two night stay minimum.

Rincon is a two and a half hour drive for me and no overnight stay is required. I can drive down there with a friend or my son and we play for a few hours.

But -- that's over with. $80 is bread crumbs, chicken feed, kaka and yesterday's borscht and I am so insulted by the whole BS matter I will never return to Rincon. Both Morongo and Pechanga are closer if I need to play locally. But otherwise, you're right -- I'll just save my money and drive to Vegas and make it a weekend.

Yes...$80 is like poo poo for a guy like MoneyLA. But I think he gets some other benefits besides just $80 in free play for his $400,000 monthly coin-in. I think they lavish him with free gifts, top rooms, show tickets and gourmet meals too.

No, I don't get anything extra.

In fact, I've never stayed in their hotel. I don't get any bonuses or offers that regular players don't also get. There are no gifts outside of the 7 Stars gifts that are given each quarter and frankly they have a cash value of about $60 -- or less as in the case of the sweatshirts last year.

I'm really surprised they pulled this crap ESPECIALLY since I don't use a room at Rincon which would cost them money. I'm probably a very "low maintenance" player in their eyes.

As far as "gourmet meals" -- I have to use my "reward credits" just like everyone else or pay cash. And the show tickets? Again, like any other Total Rewards member I qualify for two tickets.

The bottom line is I don't get any "special handling."

Well at least you got a case of sweatshirts out of it. What the hell does your host do for you? Wait around to kick you in the nuts?

Pechanga appears to be generous with fsp as long as you give them some play. Rooms are top notch and beds are super comfy. Rincon's pool rocks and the spa has better facilities.

Oops. I used the wrong word. I should have said "as in the example of the sweatshirts last year."

I did not get a "case." I got ONE sweatshirt with a "value" of about $8. That was probably the all time low for 7 Stars Gifts at Rincon -- a sweatshirt.
I thought the Hosts for high rollers like MoneyLA were supposed to offer up additional perks to encourage them to gamble more. If they can't do anything but recite the standard 7 Stars benefits, what good are they? What value add do they provide? Corporate apologists? Now, if they could give you something cool like a case of sweatshirts, that would be something.

You would suppose that to be the case. However, I believe the corporations are tossing bigger bait to "lost" customers that haven't darkened their doors in a good while.

MoneyLA's offer from Bellagio is an example of that, IMO.

Another example: We have a single friend (divorced, not that we only have one friend!) who stopped taking Vegas trips with us a lot of years ago to take care of both aging and ill parents. At that time I was getting 3 free nights (Sun-Thurs) from Wynn and maybe $200, and as I said plenty from Caesars/CET.

Her parents both passed away last year and she has started back going to Vegas with us.

Oddly, she had been receiving snail mail offers from Wynn for 4 free nights any time, upgraded room "high floor with panoramic view" and $750, while my offers were 1 free mid-week night if I PAID for two. WTF??? She said she thought she remembered playing in Wynn when it was first opened, so I may have my years wrong, but greater than 10 for sure. She had Caesars offers for the 5 free nights (that I used to get) and substantial Free Play, though she hadn't darkened their doors either in all those years.

So when she started going with us again, she has nice money offers, while I had comparatively zilch. I'll be interested to see how her offers go from now on. She plays about the same as I do (though she may be a closet high roller when I'm not around--LOL).

Harrah's Resort Southern California also known as Harrah's Rincon cancelled my free play offers for September (worth about $80 per week) because I played sessions using only free play, or downloaded free play, without playing any actual cash. This was done despite that during the months in question -- in other sessions during the month -- I had more than $400,000 of coin-in recorded by Total Rewards.

It appears that the head of free play doesn't want players only to use free play -- and that you must also play with cash -- or your account will be targeted and free play will be cut off.

The most insulting part of this -- and my own host couldn't understand it -- was that $80 of weekly free play was cut off for a player (me) who had $400,000 of coin-in for the month. Where's the logic in that?

I'll answer my own question: there is no logic and it's absolutely stupid. But it shows just how small minded bean counters are.

This is a childish retaliation against a Seven Stars player who used free play when available and didn't open his own wallet on certain days. But it was a stupid retaliation because by cutting off $80 per week of free play, this Seven Stars player (me) has been insulted and alienated to the point that he won't return. Yes -- cutting off $80 of weekly free play just cost Rincon a player who on an average visit would put $50,000+ of coin-in on video poker.

Keep counting your beans.

First off, welcome back MLA, I've always enjoyed your postings.

Secondly, wow, unbelievable. A seven star player cut off because of peanuts. It's players like you who bitch anout the absurdity of the nickel and diming that maybe they'll (the bean counters) hear and realixe that alienating players may not be such a great policy.
I think you're the second 7 star player who's giving up on CZR's this year, sionow being the other.

Their bitch is that there might have been a day I used only the free play.
Yep, and that's the problem. You fundamentally misunderstand what free play is all about. It's not a reward, it's not a trophy, and it's not a cookie. It is designed to get you back into the casino to play it off plus invest your own money. In your case, it didn't work out that way, and Harrah's analytics reacted.

Much bigger players than you know to always put in their own money when they pick up their free play. Maybe you should learn from them.

I disagree, it's absolutely a reward, just as cash back is a reward. There should be no strings attached. CZR's F'd up big time here..really big time, Alans been a pretty big player for a long time I believe, cutting him off over 80 bucks is a HUGE MISTAKE, imo, and if he wins on the 80 bucks, why in the world would he want to put his own money in?
