Try the Techatticup mine. You can also rent kayaks, canoes, etc there. Interesting tour, and not too far out of the way from Vegas, maybe 1/2 hour or 45 minutes away.

My wife and I toured it last year for something different. Keep in mind that it's cash-only, no credit cards (unless they've updated). The tour guide will be one of the owners or their adult kids, and are quite knowledgeable about the area and its' history.
Figure in some extra time to look at all of the photos and old equipment around the main house and the barn. I took some pictures last year - if I get a chance over the next few days I'll post some.
