We know the math from the system Don Diego says we are better off with - life before Obamacare. In that system the uninsured PAID NOTHING into the system. In Obamacare they pay something. If Don Diego is concerned that the "something" isn't going to be enough to cover all the costs then perhaps ...just perhaps...it is a thoughtful concern. But then why on earth would he then advocate we have the uninsured pay nothing?

Don Diego wanted math. Here is some in its most basic form: "Something" is greater than "nothing".

Bull! You and others have become so accustomed to insurance that you apparently have no idea that some people pay for their medical expenses out of their own pockets. I have for years. Up to and including surgery. It costs less than insurance! I have found a number of doctors who charge discounted rates when the patient is paying cash. They don't have to pay a staff member to process the insurance paperwork and they don't have to wait to be paid.
An anecdote! Well that proves your case, doesn't it.

A doctor in favor of obamacare does a study showing it in a favorable light - wish I could say I am surprised.

I prefer data, such as that the uninsured are twice as likely to die when they visit the ER. If you're cool with that stat, I guess you'd be okay with repealing Obamacare.

Over 9 years in this forum, nearly 5000 posts, and the guy still can't quote properly?
In an encouraging new report released today, the Kaiser Family Foundation found that the premium prices at next month's new health insurance marketplaces are coming in well below initial estimates.

“While premiums will vary significantly across the country, they are generally lower than expected,” writes KFF.

An example found by TPM:

The expected monthly premium for a 40-year-old adult purchasing a silver-level plan (the baseline, which covers 70 percent of costs) on a marketplace had been $320, according to previous projections from the Congressional Budget Office. But in 15 of the 18 regions studied by Kaiser, the average premium will be below that — thus the study’s conclusion that the prices are going to be lower than anticipated.
HOLY CRAP but this is a fun thread to revisit on June 25, 2015.

drmilled, boborme, and rdwoodpecker with terrible predictions!
hoops2 making stuff up!
DonDiego citing Cato Institute as a respectable source of information!
alanleroy hiding behind the most obvious pseudonym ever!
nemesis helpfully reminding everyone that President Obama is black!
jatki99 adding nothing!

Now that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is here to stay, I'm really going to miss these threads!

I kind of miss that alanleroyii dude. He was always bringing fresh ideas to the conversation. Like outsourcing non competitive medical services for a 10X cost savings. I wish he would post here more. Hey...I wonder who that ForkushV guy really is...

I see that Chilcoot has brought my name into this conversation. After all of the B.S. lip service, the reality still remains that those who work, pay (and pay) taxes are paying for the illegals and freeloaders to have insurance- while the taxpaying insured are forced to pay more each year for less coverage than they had before Obeymecare. But remember, you get to keep your Doctor- yeah, bull chit!
