Heartless Pechanga

My girlfriend has terminal cancer but she loves to play the penny/slots. Living in L.A. we usually take the buses to the Indian casinos. She doesn't feel well enough to go on the long trips anymore (Chumash, Barona) and San Manuel is too smoky so yesterday we went to Pechanga near Temecula. The bus is a lousy deal, pay $5 receive $10, compared to other casinos so we rarely visit.

Yesterday, my girlfriend was having a bad day and spent most of her time there in the restroom. She looked ill so after three hours I asked a bus driver to take us home. A Pechanga official with a clipboard ran up to me and demanded to see my card. She then said we had to stay five hours as they had given us the $10.

The bus left without us and my girlfriend went back to the bathroom. I went to the office and asked to see a supervisor. Much to my surprise instead of being apologetic and repremanding the clipboard women she asked to see my girlfriends players card. She returned five minutes later and said my girlfriends play was low and she would not be receiving $10 if she returned within 90 days.

I was speechless. No concern for her welfare at all. These people are heartless.
another reason 2 avoid the indians
On the plus side, some of CA's best new golf has been built (or acquired) courtesy of the tribes. On the flip side, tribal casinos are about the most depressing, disgusting places of public accommodation around. I know some folks' only "recreational" outlet is sitting at a machine in a largely unregulated gambling environment while burning through the coin and sucking down the equivalent of six coal plants of toxic emissions. No thanks. That's why the gods invented Vegas ... and countless other vacay/free-time getaway spots and activities.

To the OP. That just sucks.
Sorry to hear of such bad things.

It's pretty common. These casinos are run by authoritarian hierarchies, the whole kiss up, kick down culture. Problematic guests are simply ignored or banished because the organizational culture does not allow for diversity. The employees were simply treating you the same way they would get treated if they had a similar problem.
We would spend more if they offered value. Two examples: Snow Patrol are on tour. In Pomona and at the Cosmo pool in LV the tickets start at $35. At Pechanga $85. 2) I play poker.Pechanga takes $5 per hand from a full table. How can you beat that game?

I know she really wants to visit Vegas soon. Although food prices seem to have rocketed since I lived there I am sure she will have fun on the poker/slots.
I like Snow Patrol but $85 is a bit steep for them.
Maybe they deserve some publicity?

I'd certainly consider writing a letter to the editor, publishing a blog, and contacting the local TV human interest type reporters.

In Temecula? lol As I wrote in my newspaper years ago, the only wrong with Temecula is that it's full of people who left Orange County when the OC became too liberal.

They think gambling is a sin.

Uh....no. The people in Temechula left OC a very long time ago because they were too poor. OC is the conservative island in a liberal state. Much more conservative than Riverside county.

Hey!! I turned this thread political, how long till it's deleted??
