Henderson woman struck, killed while walking on U.S. 95

Crazy story

When are pedestrians going to learn to not walk in the lanes of interstate highways?
Was it really necessary to state it was a female that got hit? Sexism run amok I tell ya.

Was it necessary to state where the person was from? Was it necessary to state Freightliner truck? What difference does it make what kind of truck it was?

I wonder if the truck driver was male or female?

I hope the truck driver and family of the deceased find peace.

A pedestrian or bicyclist at night should never assume a driver automatically sees them, especially if they have dark clothing on. I can't believe how many people take it for granted that they are visible and will cross a street with an oncoming car and assume that it will stop.
Of course the article neglected one important piece of information...Why was she waking in the right lane of US 95? Did her car break down? Was it a shortcut? Drug or Alcohol induced stupor? Perhaps suicide by Freightliner?

It wasn't sexist because the sex of a victim is virtually always mentioned in such cases. If the newspaper were to identify by sex ONLY when a female is involved, and never with a male, obviously that would be sexist.

Likewise, if they were to only mention race when the person is NOT White, and never when they are, then they are revealing there own biases. And the biases of people who support such behavior.

Faster than walking surface streets.

People trying to cross the beltway around DC is more common than you'd think, it's alway's pretty gruesome because they usually only show a pic of a shoe in the middle of the road. I never knew that someone could actually get knocked out of there shoes.
