Here I go again:identity theft is next.

My mastercard numbers were stolen and used on my account.
Next month,my debit card was hi-jacked,so here I go into a downward spiral of dispair.
I even cancelled my Discover card.
if the perps get ahold of my SS #,I'm toast.
I went and bought an $18 "Please help me" credit protection policy from the big 3.
Experian and the 2 other controllers.

I would like to continue using these things, but I may just carry 100 bills from last week onward.
Just own 6 cards that I use all of the time. I wiped out another 2 this week.
Down to 4,now.
Discover was GREAT to help me suggest alternatives!

My bank, some weird California bank called GBC is gonna freeze my debit card.
It's VERY cool that I got a cell message this morning about some "UNUSUAL" charges to my account.
Some criminal charged up a mess of X-box stuff and other unidentifiable merchants to my debit card.
They were very busy!

It's something no one would want to wake up to,b-4 their morning coffee(Or Mt. Dew).

Just a scenaio,here:
"I'm sorry sir, your credit has been compromised".
"You may not want to use your credit cards ever again and you may be soon facing financial ruin".
"YOU HAVE NO CREDIABILITY AND YOU MAY WANT TO CHANGE YOUR NAME,YOUR RESIDENCE AND YOUR
WAY OF THINKING,SIR!"
"You may be in deep stuff."

No one actually said that.

Only $1,000 was siphoned off of my account(s),so far.
I'll need some BS credit card to make my room deposit!

**IT happens,people.
The perps are very clever, despite my efforts to protect my "who I am" identity, but that didn't work AT ALL.

Please be safe, like I was. HA!

I think that I am having a problem and am doing what is the correct action plan.IMO.
I locked my credit access acount so that nothing can happen. Yeah, right.

I would rather sit back and drink beer .

My CC got stolen a few times. The last time the crooks charged up $35 worth of take out food in the Netherlands. Capital One caught it right away and shut my card down. I had a new cc in 3 days.
I placed credit freezes (not fraud alerts) on Experian, Trans Union, and Equifax for $10 each (every State has different fees for credit freezes (ie, $5, $8, $10, etc). Not even I can open up new credits cards in my own name unless I unfreeze my credit at an additional $10 each to unfreeze. I did the freezes for peace of mind. In addition, I have message alerts on all my credit and debit cards. The best part about message alerts are that they are free. Log in to your credit or debit card company's website and go to manage alerts. There you can set alerts to receive text messages and/or emails every time a transaction occurs on your credit or debit card and you'll receive an alert everytime. I'm sure credit monitoring services such as Lifelock and others are good to have as well but the month fees can add up over time.

I think I went through the 90s and 00s without it ever happening once, but my credit card (Visa) number seems to get stolen about once a year these days. The credit card company (Chase, in my case) catches it before I do, and lets me know they are FedExing new cards, with a new account number, which arrive the next day.

They seem to be on the ball.

I had no idea you could freeze credit, what a great idea, I might have to look into that.
We've never had much happen to us(knock on wood), I think AmEx called me once or twice but that that was many years ago, asking me "are in XYZ and making these charges?", um, no I am not and that's the last I ever heard of it. I thinkj the card co.s are on top of thiongs, they're the ones on the hook as long as things' are reported right away. With the recent Home Depot thing, my bank called and sent me a new card right away.

Dave(DDD...), That sucks, maybe cancell everything and change your name to Rusty Shackleford, that'll throw 'em off
Good example of why debit cards are so dangerous. They take the money from you and you have to try to get it back.
I only use credit cards (2) and do not have a debit card. With credit cards, you can dispute the charge before they get your money.
Also CC companies seem to be more on the ball with this stuff than banks.

I also bought that 3 deal protection plan.
After paying for it for a year I dropped it.
I figure that the CC company picks up the tab on things you didn't purchase,
and might even call you if there is suspicious activity on your card, so why pay for that extra service.
That can cost you a lot of money each year that you coulsd take to Vegas

The local driver license bureau had an employee who was selling info on people. This happened to my son in law a few years ago, the perps opened up credit and started a business in his name and then went bankrupt, used his info for car loans etc.. credit bureau , lawyers were following this some of the purchases were for hair products which my son in law doesn not use, he is caucasion, the perps weren't.. the only shared info was the birthday and last name the perps had in common with my son in law they are in prison and son/daughter recieved letter that he can get out early but so/daughter said no way. So far no restituion and still trying to get there credit up and running.
From what I have seen here, looks like Amex and Chase are very quick to see suspicious activity and send out new cards right away!
That's what we pay the interest charges for: Customer service.

I may take some advice and NOT even carry a debit card anymore.
Whow knows HOW the perps get ahold of that info.
It just isn't safe out there.

I would like to pay cash for my airfare and my hotel deposit but they are pissy about that stuff.
Spent an hour or so,jacking around with my bank yesterday morning.

If this escalates any farther I won't be able to book my friggen' rooms!!!!!!!!!!!

I paid for the airfare with a CC,already.
There a pile of Franklins destined to be spent in 'Vegas, baby! I'll go count my money, now.

This little hiccup ain't gonna keep me away!
2 DEAD cards on my desk:A Disco and a Visa.More on the way.
Stay tuned to this channel for more shitty news.

OK,back to your regularly scheduled programming......

Thanks,guys.
Nuggetboy makes a good point about not carrying a debit card. I also don't carry a debit card. I carry credit cards and an ATM card (not debit card). Ask your bank for an ATM card (not debit card) and they should issue you one. I won't go into details about an ATM card versus a debit card but run some scenarios through your mind and you'll visualize the horrors should someone get ahold of your debit card and somehow obtain your P.I.N. versus an ATM card.
