I agree. It has gone from being entertaining to being nails on a chalkboard. I swear it looks like a couple of third graders going at it. I have found the only way to make it stop is to not reply to any of their post. Both make good points at times but it is ridiculous. The last one being a prime example.

Without pointing fingers it reminds me of a conversation I had with a rookie firefighter one day, He was full of piss and vinegar and ready to prove himself. He was also above average in skills and intelligence. Unfortunately he had an opinion about everything and he felt like he always had to let everybody know how much he knew, no matter what the subject.

He was driving the rest of the fire station crazy and causing a lot of unrest. Me being the station captain I had to address it before it got out of hand. I basically told him son, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and usually the other guys stinks. Everyone has an opinion on everthing and everyone doesn't always care to hear yours and nobody around here really cares to know how much you know. It is fine to add to the conversation once in a while just make sure you do it in a way where you don't come across as I am right and you are wrong. You have a long career ahead of you and once you are labeled a pain in the ass you will not be welcomed in any fire station for the next 25 years.

Remember discretion is the better part of valor. Sometimes it is better to keep your knowledge and opinions to yourself rather than make for a miserable environment.
A big ditto to that. I work with such a Know-It-All.

Yesterday my assistant and I surprised our staff with a pizza lunch for Nurses Week.
The menu from the place, all the speciality pizzas sounded wonderful. We decided on Margarita (cheeze, jalapeno, etc), Meat Lovers, and Veggie.

(Plus a large dessert pizza (really yummy), plus salad, plus a fruit tray, drinks.
All set up with pretty tablecloth, plates, napkins, etc.)

Miss KIA of course is the first in line. As she loads her plate (and plenty high) she says "The BEST one they make is their chicken fajita pizza, it's my favorite."

And every time somebody came in, all saying "wow, wonderful, thanks" etc., Miss KIA repeats like a broken record "The BEST one they make is the chicken fajita It's my favorite."

Now, did she have to say that? Instead of just thanking us for the lunch and the trouble, she has to proclaim "the best one they make" which of course we didn't get. Rude.

Grrr...thanks for letting me vent.

"It has gone from being entertaining to being nails on a chalkboard. " Hit the nail on the head there man. Some lively discussions can definitely be kinda fun and entertaing, but when it starts going on and on over some stupid bullshit that's started for no reason than to be argumentative it's ridiculous.
I know I've been guilty of getting involved a bit more than I really want to and am gonna try and not to get too opinionated in some threads. It's kinda funny actually because I don't think I come across as who I really am. I prob appear as some hard core conservative and I'm not really, there are issues I'm for and against on both sides of the aisle.

I understand some people want to be argumentative but to show up repeatedly in thread after thread and be an asshole just for the sake of absolute being nothing but, well..an asshole. I believe it would help TREMENDOUSLY if people quit responding to the antagonists or even actually use the ignore button, I had considered doing just that, but I really don't believe in doing it, but I think I'm going to.

All just MHO, JOHN

hey, someone should send this to cootie. Althought maybe not above average in skills and intelligence, this sounds like cootie to a T - has an opinion about everything and has to let everyone know how much he/she knew. I also like the next paragraph, everyone doesn't care to hear cootie's opinion and nobody really cares to know how much he/she knows.
