Hertz lawsuit

Got a letter today (from an attorney) that Hertz is in a lawsuit (class action suit)and that those who rented from them years ago are due a small refund. I used to rent from them a lot while in the consulting business. The class action attorneys evidently have all the past rental information.

If you "do nothing" you get a piece of the settlement for your old rentals. But you can "opt out" and sue them yourself. (Sure thing!!!)

They didn't explain what fees were added to the old rentals. I never noticed anything out of the ordinary, Back then I had to turn in my expenses for payment with receipts.

I always found Hertz to be great (not real cheap prices) but always had my car ready. It was important to be at the clients on time or early with what we billed them!!!
Great. You might get $11.75.

Years ago I was "a member of the class" in somebody's lawsuit agaginst American Airlines. Can't remember what for.

I received $50 to use for AA travel.

Problem was,
- the $50 was issued in five (5) $10 vouchers;
- only one voucher could be used per RT flight;
- to use the voucher you had tophysically drive to the airport and stand in line to make the reservations! Couldn't do it over the phone (this was before Internet).

I think I tossed the vouchers. Not worth the trouble.

I did it with Citi Bank several years ago. It took almost 5 years for the class action to settle...and I got a check for $80. Weeeeee

As for class action lawsuit settlements, I've received a few over the years. Although many scoff at the "small" amount received, I look at it as found money behind the sofa cushions. For the very few minutes it takes to complete an online claim form, the amount eventually received is definitely worth it.

I'll pick up a penny off the ground when I see it. So if I'm eligible, a couple minutes seems worthwhile for the return. Got a check a few days ago for $6.67. Must have taken me all of 2-3 minutes to complete the online claim form process. That comes out to something like $133.00 per hour.

Like I said, I'll take it if I am eligible. ::: shrug :::

I always just tear up the class action letter I get. It's only making the lawyers rich; pretty much useless for the person that is a part of the suit.

On another note, I always use Hertz - my AMEX card gets me Gold Status, and we have never had a problem with them. Arrive at the rental facility, check out the board for which slot the car is in, and take off! If it's a car I don't like, I've never had a problem getting in switched to a different car.
I received $1 check as settlement from the milli vanilli lawsuit. U
I think between the bank, western and southern, and full tilt. I managed to get a whopping $4.00.

Most of it came from ft and that wasn't a class action suit, just a refund of my money.
I got $235 from Full Tilt. Took a long time.
I received all my seized money back from Full Tilt as well. Almost $500, as I'd taken a withdrawal prior to Black Friday and received it before the seizures went into effect. Felt immensely lucky I'd reduced my online balance so much just a week before or so.

Don't consider that a class action settlement or lawsuit though, since funds were, allegedly held separately.

Have also received several other "class settlement" payments over the years. ALL of them "found" money, and enough in total for a nice "treat" if I chose.
Question is I still have FT FTP's left and I can;t use them except to watch them in the cashier...
