Hey Now! hot enough????

Heat...
All I know is that I've haven't seen this type of heat since I decided to leave Las Vegas in 1997. They had a stretch of 5-6 days where it was 115-118 degrees. On the 7th day I walked out of my condo and thought to myself how "nice" it was outside. I got into my car thinking I may not have to put on the air conditioner. This was at 10 am, and I turned on the radio only to hear the announcer say, "well it's 10 am and we just hit 100 degrees." WTF? 100 degrees and I'm thinking it's nice outside. At that point I decided it was time to return to Calif which I did within one week!

It's 11 am now and I'm getting ready to turn on the air conditioner. This heat really sucks.
Maybe I'm on drugs ? Was in LV last year July 1-10 and I'm pretty sure it hit 120 degrees (according to the news/weather). What's all the hype about 115 being the all time high ??

Hottest it got in Vegas July 1-10 2012 was 114F on the 10th. Today's high is 116F.

It's possible the temp could have hit 120 in neighborhoods located in the greater LV area last July.

I'm pretty sure that It reached 115 in early July 2001. Of course that may have been recorded for Henderson.
All time record high for Las Vegas was 117° on:

July 19, 2005
July 24, 1942

Of course, it has been close to that many times. No doubt it's often hotter on the strip or downtown with all the heat island effects.
It's summer time
It's the desert
The casinos have air conditioning.

I was there for that July 2005 record breaker. I remember it well!

This is why God gave someone the intelligence to invent swimming pools and drinks with little paper umbrellas in them (and ice cold beer).
