High airfare

Are the fares to Vegas unusually high everywhere right now? I'm finding the airfare on American is running twice the price as last year. I fly out of Waco, TX through DFW and last year the RT cost was around $250. Today it is well over $500. Just can't justify paying $1,000 for two people. We are going late April so not sure the price will go down a little or just keep going up.
SouthWest offers non-stop round-trip bookings from Austin as low as $292 online, . . . "purchase by February 2nd."
Thanks, I knew it was cheaper on SW from Austin, I just like to fly out of Waco where we have free parking and only 1 gate at the terminal. No body scanner either. But at these prices, I may be forced to go to Austin or DFW and pay for 8 days of parking.
The ACT to DFW leg should stay very close to the same over time. Try watching the fares on Bing. They have a price predictor for DFW to Vegas, but not with the Waco leg so just put in DFW to Vegas.

Also, try not to root for that Oklahoma team and maybee you will get better fares ;-)
