High room rates weekend of 06/20 06/21

I was looking into booking a trip to Vegas that weekend. Does anyone know why the room rates are so high for that weekend? they seem to be at least $100 higher those nights.
Electric Daisy Carnival
Avoid it at all costs.

I stayed at the Luxor last year while it was taking place.

I had to sign a statement at the front desk when I checked in, saying that I promised to not provide alcohol to any underaged guests at the hotel.

There were probably 8 to 10 people in the room next to mine.

A lady who cut my hair said that if you were 24 or 25 years old, you were already too old for the event. I think she was right. Some of the girls looked high school age. One girl had an open 1.75 litre bottle of vodka she was carrying around.

Many of the males walked through the casino without shirts during the day. I didn't see security try and stop them once.

Valet and parking were a mess.
Thanks I'll book other dates

I just read that last years Electric Daisy Carnival drew 320,000 people. This year is expected to be larger.
I had never heard of this event. I'm glad to know about it so that I can avoid Vegas that weekend.

Of course, if I were 20 years old I would defiantly be there.
I've been there twice during this event staying at the Mirage. Each time we were awoken in the early morning, 3-4 AM by EDC folks returning from the Las Vegas motor speedway and running down the hallway screaming and jumping, etc. Don't bother calling security, I've never gotten any results by doing this in Vegas. The kids we saw in Vegas walking around seemed well behaved, no complaint there, but I prefer to sleep through the night if possible. The girls basically wear just bras and panties, not much else. Not sure how these kids stay awake for days at a time but I doubt it is naturally. Cab drivers make a mint that week, hauling these kids back and forth. But that also reduces available cabs for everyone else. We now avoid this week like the plague.
There is usually one to two deaths associated with the event each year. Many times it is alcohol poisoning. Last year someone fell off of the balconly at the Cosmopolitan.

There are shuttle busses offered at many of the hotels.

Because of the event, the police were running DUI checkpoints.

I vowed I will never go up there again when this event is going on.

DonDiego had never heard of the Electric Daisy Carnival either. For some indication of what it's all about here's a preview of Under the Electric Sky. a documentary of the phenomenon.

DonDiego is pleased that the Guidelines for the Carnival prohibit: Illegal Substances, Drugs or Drug Paraphernalia, Massagers, Eyedrops, Large Chains or Spiked Jewelry, and Unsealed Tampons. Presumedly, these items will have to remain in the Las Vegas hotel rooms. He would've been unlikely to bring them anyway, . . . well, maybe a massager.

In fact, DonDiego would be unlikely to attend any of the EDC events; he doesn't care for crowds. And he doubts his predilection for classical orchestral music would be satisfied. In fact, DonDiego would've been highly unlikely to have been there when he was 20, . . . or in any year since.

Different strokes for different folks.
